Kanye is NOT the GOAT. He just happens to be really good and has been very consistent reached a critically acclaimed peak not long ago.

Kane has the most consistent discography of any rapper ever. He's a GOAT for sure.

I might consider Kanye one of the GOAT music makers of this time, I think people have a problem labeling him a GOAT rapper because they get the vibe he's branching too far beyond the rap realm to fit inside these stereotypical rapper niches. I don't care for much of his new work but he's doing something good for music and pushin boundaries.

For the record though, I don't really fuck with Yeezus. Everything before though is awesome to me.

The fuck? There's no argument here. These are bottom-of-the-barrel rappers.
guiltyhiphop wrote:Go listen to MBDTF or 808's and Heartbreak and tell me it didn't sound like you were listening to a play (Excluding Love Lockdown and All Of The Lights).
Maybe, but there's a ton of albums like that. What does this have to do with Kanye?
guiltyhiphop wrote:I honestly think he is the best we have in the mainstream for now
Mainstream is almost completely composed of bottom-of-the-barrel artists.
guiltyhiphop wrote:it's hard to call Em or Jay GOATS anymore because of their age
How in the fuck does your brain find a way to correspond a persons age to their relevancy as an artist? And that's before we get into the fact that most artists get better with age.

As for Kanye, he doesn't even contend for the greatest of all time. Dude would get steamrolled by todays lyrical titans. He may have a good ear for music in general but his skills as an MC are slightly above average. His rhyme schemes are simple and his flows are almost always like watching paint dry. He's had moments of greatness, but not enough considering how long he's been at it.

Also he's of the most narcissistic human beings to ever walk planet earth. Dude's personality is toxic towards this species to say the least.

No.

The GOAT to me, has to be the GREATEST at most things... he ain't.

Doesn't matter how much he's influenced or experimented - he's never been close to the greatest at any aspect of rapping, song concepts, or creativity.

He's only ever been one of the greatest at production and putting together consistent projects.

Eminem, as a rapper, is still the GOAT.

Nah, not of all time. Dude's been slacking to say the least. Hopefully this album not only happens but is good enough to make up for it all. Until then he's being drowned out by this sudden flood of artists flourishing.

I don`t think it`s possible to chose one GOAT rapper ever. Making a list of 10 rappers is the best way. Any of that rappers, when mentioned as the GOAT, you cam`t be mad. Kanye has no place on that list.

It`s all a matter of opinion, it all comes down to that. In my opinion, Eminem is the greatest because he is an amazing lyricist, amazing storyteller and his commercial success is great. When you compare him to Kanye, only thing where Kanye can hold up is celebrity status.

Just look at Em`s singles. Songs like Without Me, TRSS, Lose Yourself, My Name Is... When you read the lyrics, would you think those songs could get huge? No star features, he is name dropping, he is disgusting and crazy in those songs. Except Lose Yourself, but that song is something else.

So, my point is, the GOAT rapper must be an amazing lyricist, have great delivery amd he must be a star. And when I look at it like that, Em is the best. But I can`t be mad if someone else says Jay, Pac, Nas...

Wayne, Kanye and even 50 Cent (I think he is much better than those two)-they just don`t qualify.

Why can't GOAT rapper just be rapper who makes the best music?

Yeah but greatest to me isn't 'most consistent'...

Even if you discounted everything from Encore-now...

I'm talking about at his best - at his best, I think he's the greatest of all-time. Never have I heard such natural and impressive use of conversational multi's, left-field rhymes, flow, delivery, just... the whole package, is better than anything else I've ever heard (SSLP-MMLP-TES). Or for that matter as good lyrics, which incorporate such biting wit, social commentary... his mix of introspection, self-deprecation, just... everything - in his prime, he's the GOAT thinker and writer in rap, I think.
