The thing is Eminem was pretty much NOTHING like a mainstream audience had ever heard.
Pretty much every bit of Hip Hop has been covered so it's going to take a truly original and different artist too step up to the plate.

Kendrick definitely will..

Yelawolf will be seen as a leader of the new school after Love Story drops.. Mark my words.

:y:

Drake is the only rapper that needs to keep a buzz though, he cant dissaper for a year and then just drop something.

Kendrick is in the best position, an independant and one of the most acclaimed albums that every new artist would kill for, just enough mainstream, and will stay relevant by being the frontrunner of the TDE takeover (it's def coming btw, not sure how Ab-Soul is gonna blow up tbh but Q will make them heavyweights) Kendrick can take as long as he wants cause theres no real drawback with him, nothing to hate on tbh

I want Yelawolf to get the recognition he deserves. He can be chill, relaxed, emotional, hardcore, FUCK yela needs to blow up. Lil Wayne was supporting Drake, Dr Dre jumped on Kendrick's stuff, Kanye supports his artists all the time, why isnt Eminem supporting Yelawolf more ?

I think Kendrick will be...

J.Cole... not so sure. I think he may fail to ever capture anybody's imagination and fade in to obscurity and become a side-wing rapper appearing on cuts and putting out unheard albums.

Drake... I doubt it. I think he's a fad. I'd like anyone to name a song he's made which they seriously think will be debated throughout music history as groundbreaking or re-inventing the wheel...

If you can't, then how do you justify saying he'll be around in 10 years in a serious way?

Because he's on his third album. So if he hasn't made one of those kinds of songs yet... when will he?

He's a fad that exists due to catering to females and capitalizing on Kanye's popularization of auto-tune and crooning within hip-hop. He's not making anything substantial, every lyric I've heard out of his mouth ranges from generic to pure cringing. Nothing about him screams 'legend' or even 'original'.

Fair enough... You never know but this is definitely a good point of view.

I can still see him being around for 10 years because of that though. He makes rap/r&b, and I think that is what he will be recognized and remembered for more than anything. Now with that being said, I think he's a weak rapper and a weak r&b artist, but people eat it up and they will continue to do so.

Not so sure about that... there's been plenty of rap/rnb acts that have initial hits due to the populist nature of that music mix but they fade out, as... artistically, there's not much there.

I feel that's what will happen to Drake.

What's there that's going to sustain a career for 10 years? He'll probably still be around but I doubt he'll be huge, anywhere near as big or cared about much at all.

Drake is one of the few who releases albums that are clearly attempts at making something special, he doesn't have the same audience as Eminem or jay-z but A LOT of people think that take care was an amazing album. he has been popular for 4 years and hes now bigger than ever so yes, I think he'll be here 10 years from now

Could you show me some lyrics or a song which you think is truly special or original from him?

Drake could still be here, he's on top of the game right now
He gets a LOT of hate, but that helps, in a way
NWTS will tell if he has what it takes to put himself among the long run artists

2023 is too far away for someone with 10 years on his back already

Nas has been in the game 22 years
Hov has been in the game for 17 years
Eminem has been in the game for 14 years
Kanye has only been around for 9 years

It isn't out of the question to suggest he'll be here in another 10. Especially if he continues to space his albums out by 3 years.

Granted, I just can't picture him staying in the spotlight for so long after giving signs he's tired of being famous
But he defenitly has the potential to do so, tho

Plus he's a faggot with a piano for a grill.

Because Drake is currently the second best selling artist behind Eminem. Kendrick has a better legacy but Drake is more popular

You could sake the same about Eminem. The thing with Drake (and Eminem) is, they know what to drop and when to drop it to generate a great buzz. Drake will be back on top with this album. He isn't the rap artist with most number 1 songs for no reason.

What?

I feel like you didn't understand what I'm saying...currently, as an activist Hip-Hop artist, he really isn't anywhere to be seen. At least for me, I literally haven't listened to the radio in maybe six or seven months.

Every song Drake touches succeeds and is a hit. Every feature he does is massively successful, every solo song he puts out is a hit and everybody expects his next album to go platinum in it's first week.
Kdot and Drake are widely talked about as the two leaders of this "new generation", followed by J.Cole

Drake is more popular and Kendrick is more praised and acclaimed, Drake is basically Jay-Z and Kendrick is a more popular version of Nas
