But damn, he always fucks up the same line on Renegade.
"Can't step in my pants, can't walk in my shoes"
Try to rap it loud for three times in a row without reading.
Done?
It's easy, isn't it?
Well, apparently not for Jay.
Let's have a see:
Live in Detroit, 2001:

He gets it right, but they had recorded it just a few months before that show, so he had the song kinda fresh in his head, he had just learnt the lyrics. I'd say this one doesn't really count.
Live at the DJ Hero Party, LA, 2009
http://youtu.be/PILksWJXfGM?t=1m17s
"Can't stand in my pants, can't walk in your shoes"
The fuck Jay?
Okay, it's just one occasion, everybody can make a mistake.
Let's bring up another Renegade performance.
Live at The Letterman Show, 2010:

"Can't walk in my pants, can't step in my shoes"
JAY WITH THE REVERSE!
It's a shame this isn't a basketball game

Come on Hov, walk... I mean, step your game up son.
Oh, I almost forgot, (you're coming with me [pun intended]), if you go back to 1.04 in the same video you can hear an amazing "Just read a mazagine..."
But it's not over yet ladies and gentlemen.
Let's bring up another Renegade performance.
Live in Detroit, Comerica Park, in 2010:
http://youtu.be/O_CsfzICFvI?t=1m11s
Mmh, he got it right, but he was about to stumble over that impossible "Can't walk in my shoes".
Well done by the way Jay, it seems that when you're in Detroit you're more focused.
And last but not least, The Performance.
Jay live at the Yankee Stadium in New York, his home. It would be a shame if he fucked up there, wouldn't it?
Well, here we go:
http://youtu.be/QsTpIlamybo?t=1m8s
What?
"Can't walk with my pants, can't stop in my shoes"
Great, absolutely great.
Well, at least we can say he's creative. He fucks it up everytime in a whole new and interesting way, you never know what to expect when he's about to spit that line.
So, the lesson we learnt today is:
-Write down your lyrics, you can't remember everything.
-If you perform a song in Detroit, you'll manage, somehow, not to fuck up any lyric.
-Nearer you are to your home, the more you'll fuck up your own verse.
Just remember these three simple rules when you'll become a famous rapper and you'll have to perform in front of a huge crowd.
Peace.
