Exactly my point. You think that's ridiculous but music is 100% subjective.

Taste is subjective, quality is not.

Anyone claiming the aren't influenced by what they like are lying to themselves.

But I do understand that I love me some Cruger on Lazy EP, but realise he can't really flow for shit, lol.

And yeah, it could potentially be admitting you like mediocre music. But who doesn't love rapping along to some "That party last night was awfully crazy, I wish we taped it. I danced my ass off and had this one girl completely naked" every now and then.

It's about knowing why you like something.. if you think something's catchy you think it's catchy, and no one should judge you for it. The problem's when people say something is good.. that's when you can analyze the components and find out if they're right.

People take stuff way too seriously though, it's totally fine to like shit artists. Just don't say they are good, say you LIKE them... otherwise prepare to back it up.

And on a related note if you only listen to stuff you've deemed worthy then you are missing out on a lot of happiness. There are brilliant musicians whose songs don't even have lyrics! :o Shit niggaz, half the shit I listen to isn't even in English. Just listen to what you want and know your fucking place.

Miserable fuckers.

I don't think anyone's really disagreeing with your main statement, but I doubt you think that those examples of non-lyrical or non-english music aren't good, broski. You probably "deem them worthy". You even expressly stated that they are brilliant musicians, so it doesn't quite work for your argument. Better examples are obvious mainstream, non-brilliant tunes, that you may enjoy. Like did you see the ending on This Is The End? T'was golden. (Spoiler)

I was just using your post as a segway into my rant. Didn't read the whole thread or anything doo. And.. I used 'songs without lyrics' because this forum typically judges songs on lyrics. I said 'half the shit I listen to isn\'t even in English' because I've mentioned several times recently that I've been listening to JPOP (japenese pop music).. which is actually a better example than obvious mainstream, non-brilliant tunes because it's in a language I don't understand - I can't even attempt lyrical analysis. I'm just appreciating the noise, which is fine by me, and the point of my post my g.

Yeah, I didn't think you were arguing with my point.

So you like shit like Gangum Style, but admit it's not necessarily good? Ain't no one arguing wit dat.

Fuckin' Sato, lmao

-edit-

I like this song and have no idea if it's good. I think the music synced with the animation is really cool and I think the song suites the show perfectly, kind of a bouncy melancholy. Iuno just makes my soul warm, ya know?

Same, there's a certain charm to listening to music with lyrics you don't understand. Just listening to the voice as an instrument blending with the music is akin to listening to a guitarist at work, imo. Do you listen to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Cherry Bonbon is my shit.

@Accord..

Like lyrically I'm assuming? I have some lyrically great songs (I would argue) on my faves list but also some stuff I just love to listen to. I think something can be musically great too.. I just don't know enough about music to make an informed statement as to why. For example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jA0-rmYL9k&t=2m45s

Jokerr is able to use his knowledge of music to get the exact reaction out of the listener he wants.. Simple lyrics, yes, but purposeful as the story is told through the buildup of the instruments. I don't know the techniques he's using or anything like that I just know it sounds inspiring and I workout to it.

@dead prez

Definitely, it's like the ultimate escape.. Japanese music reminds me of like.. lost friendships, forgotten dreams and the beauty of tomorrow. Real gay shit i'mma stop typing like that now.
