Eyedea stans, before class jumps ship again, post the all time best songs from the genius.

Kinda in order.

- Burn Fetish
- Bottle Dreams
- Even Shadows Have Shadows
- Exhausted Love
- By The Throat
- How Much Do You Pay
- Sky Diver
- Glass
- Step By Step
- Now
- Forget Me
- Hay Fever
- Smile

Or just have another circle jerk.

On the real, you should check him out while reading his lyrics. Very insightful and such an abstract thinker, sometimes he can seem a bit grandiouse, but it's certainly hard to go back to rappers who are obviously not intelligent.

Eyedea's discography is roughly the same percentage of sad songs as Eminem's or any other rapper

At least before By The Throat.

Anyway, it's hard to list all my favorite songs because The GOAT has so many but

-By The Throat
-Burn Fetish
-How Much Do You Pay
-Paradise
-Sky Diver
-Even Shadows Have Shadows
-Glass
-This Story
-Exhausted Love
-Hay Fever

That's my top 10

He has so many good songs though my list would probably end up around 50 songs

Yeah, By The Throat and Many Faces of Oliver Hart are some of the easiest albums to listen back to front for me.

By The Throat is definitely a contender of GOAT album. Many faces has a few too many not-as-good tracks and skits though.

He uses so many cliches, that's my only problem with him.

Like, where there's a will there a wake. OHHHHHH DAMN SON, SO INTELLIGENT.

But for real he is obviously smart and a good writer, just a bit overrated in my humble opinion.

Yeah By The Throat is my GOAT album as I said in that other thread. And while there is a lot of filler on Oliver Hart, since it has 17 tracks, there's just so much brilliance on it that it makes up for it. I'm glad he released it with that many songs though since he's gone now. I'm happy for every song we got :'(

That's the point though? He uses the wordplay in cliches to flip it on it's head and give it new meaning

@SliK, Yeah, he has often changed well know phrases.

eg.
- The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing me that I was him

- She likes to talk directly down the barrel of her gun

- When there's a will there's a wake

That's not a bad line though. Just flipping a common expression to give a new meaning.

Yes there's a billion man, (lead a horse to water but you cant make it ok when you decide to leave) it's not that impressive to me. But I'm not saying he's untalented. I just don't think its as impressive as truly original content. Some of the lines Kendrick says I'm just like God damn that's so moving and creative.

If Eyedea said that stuff and it wasn't already a recognized metaphor, you'd be like "duh, every will has a wake, so?" It doesn't really mean anything.

It's not like Eyedea doesn't have a ton of unique and original lines too though and the fact that it's a double entendre and has multiple meanings only makes it more impressive

I'd prefer another near perfect album, trim the average songs. Did he produce that album? Cos, it's very cohesive sonically.

Also his skits aren't as good. The beginning and ending of Exhausted Love >>>>>>*
I think that's original dialogue too?

Yeah Oliver Hart was produced all by himself. He said it was him just learning how to produce and fucking around with it. And I'm not sure, I looked it up once and thought it was from a movie but I can't remember if it was the Exhausted Love skits or Paradise ones. And have you ever seen the interview where he talks about his newest album? He made it sound incredible and it makes me sad every time I read it :'(

Eyedea does have heaps of original metaphors as well which are impressive. I see what you're saying though, I personally like the flips on the cliche sayings to create new meanings.

Every will has a wake is pretty good flip to create a new meaning.

Instead of the common "if there's a will there's a way", which means that if you have the will to do something, you will find a way to achieve it. It's flipped to mean if you have a will to do something, it will also have unintended consequences.

They're not double entendres though, they're metaphors he didn't even think of.

Actually that's a lie, of course they are as metaphors generally are because there is a literal meaning and a metaphorical one. So that's my bad. But could you post some original ones?
