No one said he was a bad rapper just a bad lyricist, which is what this whole discussion has been about

@SWA I don't think everything should be reduced to preference... BUT - that isn't directly related to my argument - all I was getting at (to which you agreed) was that lines with the same meaning can vary in effectiveness. And from what I've seen, most of the people defending Tech only bring up how his lines have meaning.

One of the most stupid things I have ever read.

The term "flow" describes the rhythm and overall sound of a song. It is affected by factors ranging from the artist's voice, including tone and pitch, to the syllables used to rhyme and even the song's tempo.
Lyricism is how the rapper expresses his theme, message, or emotions. Similes, creativity, metaphors, entendres, word plays, punchlines are important in lyricism. If anything, Rhyming and flows can only have a negative effect on the lyrics, you're not going to have better lyrics because you have a double time flow.

Jesus fucking Christ...
Tech n9ne is a good technical rapper, but that's where it stops, even Pre-C3 Lil Wayne could find a better balance between techniques and lyricism

A very one sided reaction... Though I would say rhyming is a part of lyricism.. and flow definitely influences how you write.

that's just false. it's harder to convey a message when you're trying to fit it into a crazy flow. that's why tech sacrifices perfect grammar a lot of the time.

^I'm assuming he means in the sense that the listener isn't going to care about the message because the flow is so bad.

Nah sorry mate. Flow definitely has nothing to do with lyricism and I'm on the side that rhyming doesn't either. If someone can have good lyrics and a good flow that makes him a good rapper. A good rapper is impressive in all the categories of rap: lyricism, rhyming, flow, delivery, etc. "Having good lyrics and a good flow makes you a better lyricist." No. Having better lyrics makes you a better lyricist.

Back to playing stupid again today? You fucking idiot. Lyrics by definition are words. Rhymes by definition are words. You're not even trying any more are you?

that's the thing, Flow definitely influences how you write, but it's not a part of lyricism.
He was implying that tech n9ne was a good lyricist because of his rhymes and flow but the fact is that tech n9ne can't rap without compromising his lyrics.
