From a business perspective the answer would be obviously no, since BP3 and even MCHD sold pretty well. But from a "respect" perspective, should he?

Blueprint 3 and MCHD were both horrible albums in my opinion. BP3 had some great production, and a lot of people apparently love the beats on MC, but god, everything else is so bad.

The Jigga man just sounds old, tired, and what used to be his saving grace (his flow) is godawful nowadays (Tom Ford contender for worst flow of all time).

So yeah, I believe he should hang the mic because there's no hope he'll drop something good again.

While NAS puts an excellent album like Life is Good, Jigga proves that he has lost it with a string of terrible releases (BP3, he ruined most of the songs in WTT, and MCHG).

on a lighter note found out a few weeks ago one of my good friends dad delivered, xmas gifts to jigga back in the day (maybe 7-10 yrs ago) and met jay, jay said he'd sign cds for him. when he went to the front desk for a signature for the packages the woman said she heard jay and gave him 3 cds to take to jay to sign. My friends dad asked what type of music he did, she said rap, and he said no thanks. Needless to say its a funny story, cool he met jay but sucks he didnt get the autographs.

It's not that he's "wack", it's that he's treating rap as a second priority (business-wise, I know his wife and kids are more important).

I think he should hang up the mic, yeah. When music became secondary, that was honestly the moment he should have hung it up. I don't blame him, everyone wants and needs money after all, but he's got enough of it...it's time to not jeopardize his respect anymore. BP3 was terrible and unlistenable. MC is slightly better but the OP is right, he has never sounded more lazy lyrically and in his delivery.

People get on Em for his hoe bashing...all Jay talks about, literally, is money. Braggadocio lines, stupidity.

Jay is hanging out with Obama, I highly doubt he cares about the respect he has from a bunch of Eminem Stans from the burbs. Jay has a cemented place as a legend regardless of what he does now. Besides MCHG was great so I still want new music.

Of course he is a legend, and no one in their right mind can deny that. However, MCHG is great to you. The general consensus is that it's a bad and lazy album. He got a lot of flack and criticism because of this, and it was rated even lower than BP3.
