After listening again a few times I realise that it isn't recovery-esque but I still found a few parts a bit off. I like the flow and the rhyming is pretty good but It still doesn't have that casualness to it like in songs like Ridaz (I think that is possibly the best rhyming on Recovery).
I'll share the parts I found a bit awkward, the rest I liked!
First verse was fine!
"I'm so close to my goals I can almost pole vault over the goal post"- I get the sentiment but I hate the pause at the end of goal post, it draws so much more attention to the line as if it's awesome but to me it makes it a bit lame (eg "You're aready bi-polar"). I love the following lines though until:
"I'm not a rapper, I'm an adapter, I can adjust"- I like what he's saying but not how he says it here.
"my life's in a rut"- Once again for me it's the unnecessary emphasis on the last word that I don't like.
"This is it, it's what you eat, sleep, piss and shit
Live, breathe, your whole existence just consists of this
Refuse to quit, fuse is lit, can't diffuse the wick
I don't do this music shit, I lose my shit
Ain't got shit to lose, it's the moment of truth
It's all I know how to do, as soon as I get thrown in the booth, I spit"- Love this bit.
"so pull out your pliers and your screwdri-vers"- The screwdrivers bit is probably my least favourite in the entire song, just sounds off to me.
Like I said, I don't think it's the yelling I think it's how he emphasises the end of certain lines unnecessarily, like "I just sneeze, but I just go atchoo then achieve!", why couldn't he have started the line angry and ended it calmly, would have sounded better imo
My thoughts anyway....I just have Ridaz in my head though when it comes to how I want his current flow, also a fan of CLMR and HCTW. I like the vibe of this song though and it's definately growing on me. So it's definitely on the album but might be a bonus track?
