Aone10 wrote:How do you not understand that verse from Bagpipes?

He is telling Nick Cannon that he shouldn't fuck with Slim Shady because Slim Shady (Em's fictional character) is evil enough to provoke other fictional serial killers by using weapons/items that pertain to them.

Show me more than a few bars in that verse where it actually pertains to Nick Cannon rather than being a jumbled confused mess of imagery.

The line you picked on from SWA is a matter of cemantics....

He isn't saying he's hungry like Jason, he's saying he's playing hide and seek like Jason, the hungry line just falls in line with the previous line about him being a starving cannibal.

No, it's not semantics, loll. Jason being there has no context at it's core the reason this started was I said Eminem rhymed to rhyme in Relapse, and using Jason to fill in the scheme when it makes no sense is a prime example of that. Hannibal would have made a lot more sense but since it would shit on that scheme of his he doesn't use it.
The oxycontin and ox line....

On rapgenius, it mentions how when Rush Limbaugh was addicted to Oxycontin, the doctors said there was enough toxins from it in his system to kill a small horse. Ox's and horses are used for similar purposes, only Ox's are stronger and can pull heavier loads for an longer period of time. Get It? ;)

Redundant point I explained above, he used Ox because it filled in his wordplay, loll. Did you forget I said Eminem rhymed just to rhyme?
The jacking off.....

He gets off at the sight of a hockey mask (Jason's signature mask) while at a boxing match. Just exaggerated imagery showing that Eminem gets turned on by violence and horror movie memorabilia.

You can come up with whatever explanation regarding that nonsensical line, that does not mean it's coherent or that it has any place in the verse at all. And you're saying I'm reaching yet you try to justify this line?
The faggoty faggoty line is a line bashing gay people. Raggedy Ann and Andy are two dolls that were popular a long time ago, when homosexuality wasn't as accepted in society, Eminem says it's supposed to be Raggedy Ann and Andy not Raggedy Andy and Andy, as that would be faggoty.

I know what the hell these lines are about, loll. I'm attacking them for their incoherence and just general shitty writing and being bloated glorified filler.
All those lines make sense, you....

are either reaching

or you really just didn't understand those lines

Nyope

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's garbage. But thanks to opinions like yours and critics like the faggots over at Pitchfork, Relapse is unfortunately R.I.P

Luckily, critics don't determine what people listen to.[/quote]
Good thing I don't let critics determine my taste in music or put much stock in P4K.

No offense but you kind of have low standards then.

Also @dead prez. I know you hate Chino but can you at least admit this song is great? Not for the lyricism but just for the sheer emotion.

Lol, I overreact with my chino hate I don't think he's terrible. Just I always saw people recommend him (instead of Possessed, Copywrite, etc) for punchline rap when I think he has better attribute than that.

I think if you listen to him with the intent of him sounding funny rather than sounding hard then he's better. He has some pretty good lines imo "
The closes thing you come to making art is when your mind's drawing a blank"

That was Satire's theory is to listen to him as cheesy B horror movie or the intent of a stand up comedian, and he becomes much funnier. This can somewhat apply to wayne too

Low standards because I like Relapse?

What determines low standards when it comes to music?

You rate MCHG as the 2nd best hip-hop album this year (despite it being considered garbage lyrically) because it's so awesome when you are drunk...

Talk about low standards....that's like saying, yea... I know my girlfriend is ugly as fuck and all, but she's so fun to fuck when I'm drunk.

Low standards....

Get the fuck out of here class.

It's only low standards when someone likes something you don't right?

This is exactly why you have a reputation for being an arrogant asshole on this forum.

Not even close to being the same. MCHG being my second album of the year says more about the quality of albums this year (not very good) than my standards. The difference is that I'm willing to admit I like MCHG because of it's production and how great it is sonically while you are still grasping to this idea of Relapse being anything other than terrible lyrically. Besides, Jay-Z still has decent lyricism on the album and moments of great lyricism (Oceans, Holy Grail, Heaven, Jay-Z Blue).

Aone10 wrote:I'm not praising Relapse for being an amazing album lyrically, I know most of it's flaws are with the lyrics themselves (though I might add that it is far from terrible) I'm praising it for it's overall vibe and sonic quality (much like you are MCHG, an album I enjoy as well).

The same thing can be said about Em on Relapse though, he had brilliant moments on Relapse that exceed anything Jay did on MCHG.

This argument is a couple days old so I can't remember your exact words but I was under the impression that you've been arguing Relapse is great in terms of overall album quality. Yes, the beats are really good because Dr. Dre is a great producer, and the flows match the beats well so besides from those awful accents the album is pleasing sonically. I just don't understand in what scenario that benefits the album. MCHG is great to listen to at parties but you can hardly turn up to Relapse so I don't think that really helps it. Horrorcore is a genre that is mostly about lyricism and when the lyricism on Relapse is as poor as it is you can hardly call the album good.

And I disagree, Jay-Z Blue & Oceans are better lyrically than anything on Relapse.
