Favorite Parts of 'Survival'

Postby Mr Change » Aug 16th, '13, 01:35

So, as I'm sure we have all listened to the song a crap ton by now, I think it'd be cool to share our favorite parts of the song with each other in one convenient thread.

So what do you guys believe are the best part(s) of the song and what is your personal favorite? Think Eminem executed a line really well? Laugh at a funny punchline? Maybe a part that you love the rhyming especially well?

Put it down and explain it for other members so we can enjoy the song even more :D

My personal favorite parts are for one, the beginning of the first verse, this part in particular;

"From the beginning, it wasn't 'bout the ends
It was 'bout busting raps and standing for something, fuck an acronym
Cut the fucking act like you're happy, I'm fucking back again
With another anthem, why stop when it doesn't have to end?
It ain't over 'til I say it's over – enough when I say enough"

I'll be honest, I haven't heard Em ride a beat that good in a loooooong time. I think it's arguably the smoothest sounding part of the whole song and I love that it starts with it.

This part of verse 2;

"I get excited at the sight of my blood, you're in a fight with a nut"

Love how he says this.

I also like the beginning of the third verse;

"This is it, it's what you eat, sleep, piss and shit
Live, breathe, your whole existence just consists of this
Refuse to quit, fuse is lit, can't diffuse the wick
I don't do this music shit, I lose my shit
Ain't got shit to lose, it's the moment of truth
It's all I know how to do, as soon as I get thrown in the booth, I spit
But my respect is overdue, I'm showing you the flow no one do
Cause I don't own no diploma for school, I quit!
So there's nothing for me to fall back on, I know no other trades
So you'd better trade your fucking mics in for some tool-box-es"

It starts out with some crazy rhyming and then toward the end of the lines if you listen really closely you can start hearing nothing but pure emotion right around the part where he talks about his flow and the last line where he says to trade your mics. Love it.
Also, 'I LOSE my SHIT!' :worship:

Haters started to appreciate my art
And it just breaks my heart to look at all the pain I caused
But what am I gonna do when the rage is gone?
And the lights go out in that trailer park?"

Top 5 in this mothafucka and if I don't make the cut
What, like I give a fuck, I'mma light this bitch up like I'm driving a truck
To the side of a pump, 0 to 60 hop in and gun it
Like G-Unit without the hyphen, I'm hyping 'em up

That Yela reference and the way he delivers "like I give a FUCK" is just awesome.

The first three bars are the best of the entire song, but all that i posted is good.

It's a decent song. If it's an album of that I'll be really let down though. But if it's one of the worst songs on the album then we should get a great album, if that is one of the best, then we are getting another Recovery.

I like the part where the vocals stop and the beat fades out.

The song is better than 80% of post relapse Eminem.

Which, the bar isn't set very high for that, but it isn't like it's unlistenable.

Yeah I just like fucking with Stans lol. The song is cool for what it is I guess. I like the opening two lines the best.

Honestly though I prefer Symphony in H a lot more.

You liked Symphony in H? I thought you'd hate it for being yet another song about hoe-bashing :unsure:

The way the song starts is the part that I love the most

Although the content was nothing new, his wit was sharper (working the kinks out / won an Oscar but I'm still a grouch) and his style was a lot smoother.

I only said I prefer it a lot more, not that I love it. It's definitely a step in the right direction.

Give me a break , how exactly is this better then 80% of 'post relapse' or how is it that different for that matter? For the record I had no problem with Recovery, it's a way better album then Relapse and universally recognized as so... but he does just as much screaming/yelling on this song, and the over-enunciating / emphasizing of words is all there which people around here have complained about. You guys are seriously just drunk off of your own fanboyism, it's made you crazy.

I like this song btw, but trying to make this out as something wildly different or greater then what he did during the Recovery phase is just not making sense. If anything this sounds like Recovery 2.0 , which I have no problem with btw and it's pretty much what I expected.

The best part was when he said he was ill prepared. Not many perks to listening to that song.
