The trappings of success always looks great to the person who doesn't have it. But if it was so great he wouldn't have almost OD'd. Money, fame, success doesn't stop the bad from happening. It didn't stop his best friend from dying, getting divorced, having a strained relationship with family members, falling out with friends etc. He's had to deal with a lot of painful stuff in spite of (and in some cases because of) all that he has. I'm sure he has the same emotions everyone else has: happy sometimes, sad sometimes.
