Bonus freestyles on 8 Mile

I was watching that video again after a long time, and I still can't understand what happened.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Those freestyles were supposed to be in the movie but for some reason they didn't make the final cut. Em was trying to keep his voice safe for other scenes and he was miming his raps, the crowd started booing so he just turned the mic on and started rapping. Is this right?
The real question, though, is another one. Were those real freestyles? Or they were just pre-written stuff?
It would be great if someone could explain me the whole situation.

I think those were off the dome freestyles .. you can clearly see and hear the difference when he's doing a pre-written or off the dome .. he's always saying something like "check it" or shit so he can have time to think about the next bar or the punchline

If those are off the dome, how can he mime his first freestyles?

So what you're saying is, he was supposed to spit some pre-written stuff for the movies, then he started to freestyle for real after it.
But this still doesn't make sense, because they were having a coin toss, so there was a degree of randomness in that. He didn't know if he was going first or second in every battle, and he couldn't have had pre-written rhymes for every possibile situation.
And also, did he know what the opponent was about to say?

This clip has always confused me.

here's what happened in my opinion. they're at a stage with hundreds of people. they get the crowd in there (all locals. tryna make it big. know big marshal), they have them all go nuts over the WRITTEN TRACKS and after the recording they offer the crowd to freestyle against eminem. he's not lil wayne, or any of these faggits out now. he's a freestyler. grew up battling. why not show off? get cocky? people were probably yelling out how they could take him on or whatever. i would say those last battles were just random. u dont go up there and literally CHOKE in front of eminem and "perform" that. she looked legit. she tried. she wanted to show her "skill"

ORRRR.....

there were tryouts to be on the papa docs team. whoever spit the sickest verse got a spot.

Here's what happened:

They had an audition to find rappers that could be the ones battling B. Rabbit on the movie, you can see it here here > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zprcu_2bORU

They got Strike to be Lyckety-Splyt and Ox to be Lotto. One nice easter egg found on the movie is the fact that Future calls for "Ox and Strike" to come to the stage at one point, refering to the real life rap aliases of those two rappers.

Some other rappers were selected to battle Em as some kind of consolation prize, I guess. Em had nothing written to those battles as he would go efortless and ''calm'' on them. It's important to say that he was saving he's voice to the ''real ones'' as someone pointed out, and he battled them rappers as Bunny Rabbit, the character.

IMO they did those 3 battles (chosing the MCs carefully by the way, it's shown in the dvd)
to make it look like the whole 8 mile battles in the movie were not pre-written (i'm saying this because of the guy speaking over the whole thing, as if he wanted it to look like some scene that could've end up in the movie)
(you'd actually freak out if you knew how much people think that he's spitting it off the dome in 8 mile, or in any "freestyle" videos (westwood, wake up show, bet etc..)
And also to entertain the crowd, because they stayed there for quite some time i've heard.

Anyone who has a little bit of knowledge in rapping would instantly notice that those were off the top.

Anyway, he killed it.

It requires a lot of skills to do this, and at the time you can see that he was better than in 97 in his punchlines
