I can only find a few lines that I even like... most of them are just simple metaphors and typical rapper shit. And I'm not tryin' to hate but read through the lyrics. I feel like if you're being honest with yourself you would agree, no?

I love how Atmosphere's songs never have features for a lot of his albums. So much better.

By "typical rapper shit" do you just mean braggadocio lyrics?

Cos that's what it is, a braggadocio/competitive verse with some great lines.

"the rest of y'all new niggas, just new niggas, don't get involved"

"I'm the king of New York, king of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both"

"I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you niggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas"

People can't seem to separate this from generic baseless boasting.

And then with his metaphors, I don't see how some of them are bad...? Maybe bad rhyming. But a great extended metaphor at the end "I'm tryna raise the bar high, who tryna jump and get it? You're better off tryna skydive..."

But I do agree that Kendrick isn't anywhere near the best at "spitting bars" and punchlines and the verse is definitely overrated.

I like the juggling with one hand one, and the noun/verb one is fine but other than that none of those lines impress me at all. But it's whatev I"m in anime mode no time for this discussion right now maine.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to bait a heated argument.

But I don't think it's acceptable separating lyrics like "the rest of y'all new niggas, just new niggas, don't get involved" from the rapper when you are judging them.

The quality is contingent on the context.
