I'm sure there would be plenty of amazing rapping and great songs, but it would be a forgettable album overall with terrible production, cliche hooks and predictable concepts and content.

Encore, Relapse, Recovery... he hasn't made a classic in 12 years. That's crazy, I know it's only 3 albums, not like every single one he makes can be a classic but, this one needs to be... or at least like a WOW 'amazing album' result, after 3 years... well, 3 and a fucking half nearly... if it ain't THE SHIT... it'll be a let down. And Recovery 2.0 would not be THE SHIT.

Do you think he is going to make another classic?

Hmm... I don't know.

I'm leaning towards more yes than no just because I EXPECT him to pull it off, but I expected it the last two times... but... coming back is hard, and then the next one was really a response to a mixed reception... he's really sharp skill-wise right now... the only thing I fear will miss the mark will be the production and the hooks... and who knows what he's got left in him conceptually.

But given the time he's taken, his confidence, his focus, the pressure and him surely knowing this has to be THEE shit, AND the recent burst of inspiration from Kanye and Kendrick... I'd say there's about a 7/10 chance of him making this next one a classic.

He may not, and if he doesn't... it'd actually be really interesting to see how he reacts to that or even copes with 4 albums in a row which all have a lukewarm reception, especially after he put so much of hiss ass in to the last two but especially now this one, all this time taken, the expectations... it would just be weird and shocking for him to not pull off a fully acclaimed album with this one, just given how much attention and focus and input he's giving it, and his skill-level and passion right now.

I think the past few lukewarm albums have set him alight and made him determined to bow out with a classic, because he surely knows that Recovery also was not received as that.

But, it's anybody's guess. I'd say it's near certain that we will at least have a handful of all-time amazing Em songs, and some truly WOW rapping, but... I don't know whether he has the conviction to fully strip himself of musical compromise and just make it fully pure now.

He got really close with MMLP and TES tho

Yeah and MMLP may be it...

Not that it's literally musically and lyrically perfect... although...

But, just for what it is - the consistency of the themes and the material, it absolutely epitomizes an artistic vision "this album is X" and at no point is not X, there's variety within X but man... he just fucking nailed every song, his attitude throughout, it's THAT great, like a musical Pulp Fiction, just a fucking powerhouse homerun which is as comical and catchy as it is fucked-up and dark and psychotic, it's so many things at once, and it excels at all of them.

Well that actually felt like the next step...

i don't think TES was his peak... I think "Lose Yourself" was...

"8 Mile" and "Lose Yourself" are more dramatic, musically great, expansive, cinematic and just... better music than a lot of TES... they just felt... like a progression, which is amazing considering how good TES material is. Damn... he really could have made like The Jimmy Smith Jr. album, as a concept album, with an album full of tracks in that character, 8 Mile style production...

Man, an album worth of that calibre, would have been bananas like the fruit.

Yeah, Lose Yourself is like the pinnacle of his career. It's one of the most legendary songs in history. Not just to Em fans, to rap fans in general. Hell, music fans. Everyone has heard this song.

Recovery 2.0? God, no!

I liked Recovery (6/10 album), but I don't want something like that anymore. It's been 3 years and Em should prove to anyone that he did something different all these years. I think that he is already going on his way to do it.

I'm not expecting something like MMLP or TES. It might be a classic, but in a different way of those two.

I know, I think "Lose Yourself" was his absolute peak - he's got the awards and credentials to back that claim up too. It's just theatrical.

Sigh.

This.

If Eminem had died after the 8 mile movie, Lose Yourself, and probably after The Eminem Show, he would definitely have secured his place as GOAT, probably on par with Tupac and Biggie.

OT: As far as "Recovery 2", no. It won't happen, or at least the possibility is very slim. Relapse 2 was supposed to come one year after Relapse. You seriously think Em would work three whole years just for a sequel? Maybe the style will be a bit the same, but it won't be a direct sequel.

Came here to say this haha. Just imagine if he had died post-Lose Yourself and 8 Mile movie... What's more, if he was killed... Crazy. He would've been considered damn near, if not THE best.

As far as Recovery 2, please no. I've heard enough music from that era, I want something new. Something better. A LOT better.
