It's clear that Mourinho grew to hate Casillas this previous season.
At the very beginnings of his bad performances Mou was right to put him on the bench (as he did with many other players including Ozil and Di Maria).
But after he came back from his injury Mou was supposed to treat him like every other player and give him some minutes every now and then (you know...to get the sense of it again), especially when you already lost the league after the first 10 games. When you put the 3rd and 4th goalkeeper over him you're just insulting him.
But I gotta admit Casillas still needs about 2-3 months of hard work to get back on form, he did good against Chelsea and his performances have gotten better since the Confederation Cup.
Diego Lopez has been great so far so unless Casillas steps his game up I don't think he's gonna start in any game soon.
To me Mou washed his hands with Casillas & kinda ruined his greatness & legacy doing that but Lopez did great in that period of time last year indeed. He was kinda shaky & did a few mistakes that last game but I agree Casillas has to step his game up a bit to regain his spot. It's ridiculous a goalie with his legacy & history to be a second choice to one who's been second choice in weaker teams for at least half of his career but at the end of the day it is what it is.
