What the fuck are you on about? Em working with Rubin is an absolute fallacy. He has collaborated with Jay before. 99 Problems is probably one of the best examples of Rubin's sound. Rubin's been in Jay's circle for a long time, and I am in no doubt that he has impacted indirectly on Kanye as well.

So much Stannism going on here now.

I am so hyped for Rubin but please: stop with the ridiculous assertions that Em is 'first with the great ideas'

I really like the stripped down beats from the MMLP. They are very simplistic, but it lets Em's edgy vocals be heard. MMLP is perfect because it's not over produced like so much of the music you here today. Hopefully Rick can bring these simplistic and stripped down beats to the table.

I meant to say Em being the first to jump on the Rubin bandwagon. He's late to the party by all means.

I was talking about this year's project bro. Yeezus, MCHG and now MMLP2. Rick Rubin has been seen with Eminem, Jay and Kanye.

So when it was announced that Rubin worked on this, I thought Em was riding the Kanye wave. But it was actually the opposite, as Eminem has been working with Rick Rubin on this album for a while now. I know who he is, what he did, I know 99 problems, Licensed to Ill, Radio etc..

Come on dawg.

OK mate I see what you are saying now, but you have too appreciate that that is not how it came across initially. Rubin has been in the game for a long time. I am so happy to see Em reaching into his territory as until now I really thought Em was too concerned with his own circle of producers (the most recent of whom have been underwhelming to say the least), so this shows that Em is taking a strong appreciation for contemporary hip-hop which is great. Whilst I think Em will have a strong focus on the lyricism with this album, i really hope that Rubin has made him realise the benefits of tailoring his work artistically as Kanye has done as well.

I don't want a MMLP2/Yeezus project, but listen to Blood on the Leaves and tell me that you wouldn't love to hear Em on a track with such a menacing, chaotic beat that only amplifies as the track progresses.
That is what Rubin can bring to the table. Such a stripped down sound that seems so complex. Dre is the cherry on the top of this awesome cake.

Yeah I love Rick Rubin but I have no idea how much he really worked on this album. Probably a lot as it is the first time someone outside of Dr Dre is Exec (Dr Dre was even Exec Prod for Recovery....).

Those of you worried about the rock influence are over reacting, I think. The Eminem Show was very heavily rock influenced, and the production on The Marshall Mathers LP also pulls from that realm. These are his prime works, and neither came out sounding like a Linkin Park album due to the rock influence. Rick tends to strip things down, not make them overbearing.

Survival isn't a reliable indication of the direction of production, because it was pumped up for the purpose of the COD game. The original song sounded very different.
