A verse, or song doesn't have to have a crazy story like Stan, non-stop multies, or 500 punches to be lyrical, you idiot. Crooked I hardly ever has a good storytelling song but all of his songs have sick multis and good punches. Don't imply that I dunno what lyrical hip hop is. I breathe hip hop, I'm a musician myself, believe me, it doesn't have to be over the top to be sick.

I would say, yes, a song has to have more than just multis to be real lyrical. It'll still be good, but it has to have punches and good storytelling as well.

Crooked I is far from a good defense of what lyrical hip hop is. Once you learn how to string together multies, you can do what Crook can do. TRSS for example is a perfect example since it's from MMLP. That beat is catchy as fuck, but not poppy at all. It's clean, and memorable.

And he spits like a beast on it.

People call Kanye's stuff "overproducing", but his vocals are still crisp and clear. This is so messy. Rubin is a master at stripping down music and getting the sound that should be coming, but this is just... bad.

Eminem used to rhyme over minamalism beats, and most of his verses had an arch. When listening to his stuff he painted a picture in your head, told a story, etc.

Now he's a rappity rap rapper with wack punchlines, over production, and uses other bizarre and annoying gimmicks. (yelling, half-singing, squealing/screeching, etc.)

If that's the case, and he just wanted to make a stupid catchy song, then I enjoy the song. If the rest of the album is like this content-wise though, then it will just be another Relapse/Recovery album to me, and won't come anywhere near MMLP.
