Not Afraid had a massive first week, followed by steady growth & longevity in airplay. Thus a second single before the album wasn't necessary.
It was also a month and a half before the album, and a pop anthem.
Berzerk is almost two and a half months before the album, and it's far from a pop anthem.
- Not Afraid - released 7.5 weeks prior to Recovery.
- Berzerk - released 10 weeks prior to MMLP2.
Not that huge of a difference, but I get your point. Thing is, back in 2010, Insterscope, quite likely, expected Not Afraid to be hit on the radio, due to its character and structure. As a consequence, it could be released slightly closer to the album release date. Berzerk, on the other hand, I suspect, will not have the same success on radio, and I’m quite confident that Interscope isn’t anticipating such either – thus it makes sense releasing it somewhat earlier, for other purposes.
But if Berzerk, against expectations, proves to be a super hit on the radio, the probability for a second single before the album decreases.

But he had less time anyway.
There'll not be 2 and a half months of no music, dude.
New music =/= New single. That said, there’s probably going to be a second single prior to MMLP2, due to the [likely] anticipated low/moderate airplay from Berzerk.
