Keep in mind that performance was I think the same day that the album came out. Most or probably all of the people in the audience haven't listened to it yet so they don't know the lyrics.

I'm sure the music on MMLP 2 will be really stadium-esque and powerful. As far as the music goes. Berzerk fucking BANGS in a car.

Or maybe he made Recovery because he wanted to? And was disappointed with Relapse as he's stated / suggested over and over again? I really don't get the obsession with Relapse around these forums. I mean you bash on Recovery, but there's so many reasons to bash on Relapse -- and this is reflected by reviews and most people who's listened to the albums.

Em said it best:

Additionally, the emcee/producer veteran spoke about his reaction to Relapse now, the album that prompted hits such as "We Made You" and "Beautiful." "When I felt [disappointment in Relapse] was later, when I was reassessing my work — trying to figure out why my songs didn’t sound like they used to sound," explained Em. 'The further I got away from Relapse, I was able to hear the problems with all the accents I was using to slip in and out of characters, and how the serial killing didn’t work. The joke was over — I ran it into the ground."

And then, a year after Recovery, we hear HTS, where he mentions bumping Relapse then killing someone because they didn't like it.

And if he's so fucking disappointed with Relapse, why does he still perform both 3AM and Crack A Bottle? Face it. Recovery was a compromised piece of work. You know it, I know it, this whole forum knows it, and I hope to God Em knows it too.

Now, I'm not saying Recovery was terrible. It's just certainly not better than Relapse.

Sarcasm?

And if he's so fucking disappointed with Relapse, why does he still perform both 3AM and Crack A Bottle?

Rarely see him do 3AM , but nobody said the entire album is terrible. There are few ok songs on there (probably why he performs them). Why doesn't he do any of the other songs with the terrible accents?

No I don't know it. Here's what I do know - Recovery is rated better almost universally then Relapse, it has better songs in it, and there's more honesty and substance in tracks like Going Through Changes, Your Never Over, and Not Afraid then most of Relapse combined.

Now, I'm not saying Recovery was terrible. It's just certainly not better than Relapse.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. But I'd bet that most objective people would disagree with you.

You're telling me that Crack A Bottle is better than Deja Vu? Do you know why he doesn't perform them? None of them are exactly stadium bangers. They're Eminem's odes to serial killing.

Deja Vu shits on every single song you just listed. By a long shot. And guess what? Substance and honesty isn't everything. If I wanted that and only that, why shouldn't I listen to Tupac instead? The man is meaningful rap at its finest. I listen to Em for his dark humour, wit, rhyming abilities, imagery, and wordplay.

Even if you're right about that (and I don't think so) don't use other people's opinions to back up your own.

Maybe because it's a song, and he tends to use a lot of humor / sarcasm? Particularly across HTS. He's been pretty blunt about his feeling about Relapse

You're telling me that Crack A Bottle is better than Deja Vu? Do you know why he doesn't perform them? None of them are exactly stadium bangers. They're Eminem's odes to serial killing.

No I'm not saying that. Deju Vu is one of the few memorable tracks on there. I'm sure Em doesn't have a problem with that song. But most of the album is filled with a ridiculous accent and mindless wordplay about serial killing, rape, etc. As Em said, the joke was already over.

Em's music (aside from some of Encore, and most of Relapse) has always had substance. That's why it's so damn good. There's meaning behind the lyrics, even his more comical songs - which shine a light on our stupid, celebrity obsessed culture and hypocrisies.

Lyrics for the sake of humor or rhyming abilities can be fun to listen to but an entire album of it? Doesn't make for a memorable record.

Even if you're right about that (and I don't think so) don't use other people's opinions to back up your own.

Well I'm just saying, you and other people around here seem to state Relapse is a better album as fact, when reviews and universal opinion seem to state otherwise.
