Yeezus vs Magna Carta Holy Grail

Postby ladelsofgravy » Aug 28th, '13, 21:20

I compare these two because both came out around relatively the same time from two biggests artists of the same label.

Personally I would give Yeezus 3/5 and Magna Carta 4/5.

Yeezus was much more creative in production, but aside from a few hot lines the lyrics were mostly mediocre, which is enough to make the album mediocre.

Magna Carta may not live up to the prestige of Jay's other albums, but in the end, I think it's a quality release that's an excellent adaptation to modern standards without becoming something he isn't. At first, I found myself underwhelmed by his lyrics, but after listening a few times, I got a better understanding of their depth and intellect.

Very objective, as usual.

I just don't feel that MCHG is as bad as other critics and fans make it out to be. I find it to be very enjoyable. Haven't stopped listening to it since July 4th.

Weren't you giving me shit for liking it -__-

I prefer to listen through sections of hot garbage until i come to an interesting line, a hot idea, a fun beat break. I get that with yeezus.

MCHG is an endless stretch of hot Timbaland production buried underneath bland Jay Z flows and pointlessly cryptic words. Bullshit. Its a waste of time.

Honestly, Jay Z is sounds more Mac Miller than BIG now, and Mac Miller has better things to say.

"Do you just listen to music or do you just skim through it"

Jay-Z has a lot to say on this record. And Mac Miller songs are about completely nothing and are him just trying to prove he's technical by using multis.

Biased much? On Sight is one of the worst song released this year. Talk about being all over the place.
