Miley's performance was no more disgusting, IMHO, than anything Rihanna has done on stage, or any similar artist for that matter.
Like Lindsay Lohan, Britney et al, her past childhood pop-status overshadows her later actions.

It was a shameful performance, but I think it is more shameful that it is being given more media attention than real problems at hand.

Was the reaction to Recovery even worse? I'm seriously asking because when Relapse came out I was reading this forum all the time, so I saw the reactions as they came out - but with Recovery I wasn't reading here at the time, so I missed all of the first reactions. I liked Recovery a lot more than Relapse, when did it become a negative thing for him to sound "Recovery'ish" with new stuff? Is it just that it was 3 years ago and it's time for something new? Or did people on here really view Recovery as a step in the wrong direction?

For me at least, Recovery was so much more commercial and accessible than Relapse. It was an easier listen the first go-round. But it got old. Quick. The screaming, the corny punchlines and cheap production, the inspirational "take my hand and follow me" shit just got annoying, and it didn't sound like the Eminem we'd all come to know and love.

Relapse, on the other hand, was a bit of a disappointment for me at first. The accents and subject matter kinda threw me for a loop. However, as time passed and I gave it more listens, the accents became less of a problem for me, and the unbelievable writing/production took center stage and made me fall in love with the album. I don't think the people that hate on Relapse ever really gave it much of a chance. But I've come to love it almost in its entirety. It has waaaaaaay more personality than Recovery and it seemed more genuine. Seems like that was the album Eminem truly wanted to make at the time. Recovery seemed more forced.

Anyway, Relapse > Recovery, all day :D

If people thought Recovery had some corny lines, which it did, what do people think about the toe jam line in Berzerk???

Anyways, on here almost everyone will tell you Relapse is better than Recovery, and if you don't think you.....well you're a fucking idiot or something along those lines. Away from here, it's probably like 50-50 depending on who you talk to. As far as hardcore hip hop heads go though, not strictly Eminem/Shady stans, Recovery seems to be generally regarded as a better version of Eminem. But it's all opinions anyway.

Hell the Sequel Eminem was better than either. He spit straight fire on Welcome to Hell, Fast Lane, Loud Noises, etc. Even Above the Law, Echo, and Living Proof had Em shouting and sounding good.

not as corney as the shit he wrote on Recovery. Plus Berzerk had quite a lot of enjoyable lines to the extent that you let shit like the "toe jam" line slide. Just like everyone let his final line of "Under the Influence" slide. (Hung from the drapes/curtains or whatever it was).

Wasn't really a punchline, and he put 0 emphasis on it so it doesn't really stand out unlike Window Pane. It's saying this is your song, unless you got rank feet dawg. Plus "Unless you got toe jam, so KICK YOUR SHOES OFF"
"But most importantly, hip hop isn’t dead no more you see
Cause Kendrick took the bar and raised it up higher for MCs
Unfortunately the little nigga's like 4 ft 3, the guys a fuckin' midget
His high is still really short to me" -Hopsin
(I love Kendrick, but this shit was too funny)

The whole song personifies being silly, so even if the song did have corny lines its irrelevant.

it was good for a first single. Unless you think Just Lose It, We Made You and Not Afraid were better. Only We Made You could be argued to have better rhyming but the entire track was poor.

My uncle interviewed him for our local TV station before he was all ~famous and stuff. He did the same with Sidney Crosby, but he lives about 20mins from my house lol. My uncle said John was one of his favorite interviews, really nice guy.

My man gets it. I would also give this answer to people talking about the production being all over the place. The name of the song is Bezerk. And that motherfucker feels bezerk. Which is perfect.
