Why do people keep saying 'going back to not giving a fuck' as if... he isn't that on every CD lmao.

Yeah there's splattered examples of maturity on Recovery but how about...

"Been this way since I stood a foot tall!!"

"Fuck my dick's big, bitch, need I remind you..."

"You can get the dick!!"

MOST of the fucking album is him not giving a fuck, shouting abuse at imagined enemies, or women, making some kind of self-deprecating joke or venting anger... as he's ALWAYS done.

The only thing which ever really changes is the fucking music and the way he goes about it.

And obviously how angry and the kind of content. Encore easily has some of his most mature, somber and stone-faced material, even more-so than Recovery.

But generally speaking, he never once on any album doesn't have all the things which made MMLP the MMLP. It's just not as continuous or as much as a driving force... but this constant thing of "okay NOW he's going back to THAT"... he's always that. Just depends how he goes about it.

no matter WHAT it is, you'll never please everyone. so he should do it for himself and whatever he feels more passionate about and what makes him happy. even though a lot of people want to see him do something a certain way, doesnt mean that hes going to, or even that he should. i just want his fire lit again. whatever subject matter it may take.

Sorry to change the subject, but I'm thinking this album goes to a more updated funny skit approach (chris rock doing a public service announcement). Survival doesn't fit this album so it will be a bonus. Em does that to his newer fans. He gets people to think it's soft but when they listen it's a whole different surprise. He did that to me with Insane off Relapse. When I first heard Insane it changed my whole insight of what Relapse was gonna be. He usually tricks his listeners into a whole different world.

The big difference between Em now and back when the MMLP dropped is song content. It's not just about the "dgaf" attitude or lyricism (although that has certainly been not been up to his standards of late). When the MMLP dropped it was a perfect storm of drama, controversy, and confidence (coming off the SSLP) that inspired songs that actually had some meaning to them. Even his jokey songs like TRSS and had a message in his verses (not to mention some sick flows). I'm hard pressed to come up with what any of his newer songs (since Recovery) actually are about. When I listen to any of Em's newer stuff it sounds like he just decided to rhyme some shit together without much meaning behind the words. What happened to "that's why I'm clever when I put together ever verse" Eminem?

It is these reasons why I don't expect MMLP 2 to come anywhere CLOSE to the original. I'm sad to say I don't think we'll ever see Em drop a gem like Who Knew, Criminal, The Way I AM, Solider, TIC (yes I know the last two are off TES) again. I just don't see anything lighting that UNFORCED fire under him ever again.

^ agreed. The only thing we really want is unforced content/ style. The blonde hair, for me, is a worrying sign. Its almost like he wants to "go back to that phase" instead of adapting that attitude to what he is now. As long as it come of natural (and good) I'm good

I honestly don't see how people think Em was sharper on Relapse than Hell the Sequel.

Anyways, it depends on how he does it. If anyone thinks the album will sound the same or similar to MMLP, think again. Ems never made an album that sounded like any of his other ones, I wouldn't think he's going to start now.

It's not about the sound, it's the attitude.

What interview did he say that?

Not Afraid says hello - "Maybe i ran them accents into the groung/relax i aint going back to that now!"

that was clearly because of fan backlash

What about "I don't give a fuck", "I don't give a damn what you think, I do this for me".
My point is that it's really hard to understand how he thinks. Maybe he didn't quit using the accents because of the fans, maybe it was because of him or his friends/girlfriends and he was telling us to relax 'cause he thought we didn't like them either. (I prefer the accents over the yelling)

Yeah he said he's never going back to drugs...

What's that got to do with his art? Lmao.

That says nothing about where he'll artistically go.

And of course he cares about complaints / how people view him, he always has. The reason he went Slim Shady was due to response to 'Infinite'... fast-foward 14 years and the reason he went Recovery was due to reaction to Relapse.

In fact, every single one of his albums has been a reaction, to the reaction, to the prior.

I've been a huge supporter of this project.

I have a few concerns. But I think it's going to be much, much better than Recovery.
