I really hope (MMLP2 related)

Postby Devil'sAdvocate » Sep 13th, '13, 22:50

I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed this, but the mixing and the mastering on Recovery was AWFUL, it was fucking horrible, the loudness of it and the messiness, I'm very sure Em mixed that himself.

I really hope Dre mastered the album on his own, Rubin is known to make his shit loud btw, you can research that.

That's a make it or break it for me, the sharpness of MMLP was out of this world, this should be nothing less, bring back BASS BROTHER AND MEL-MAN Marsh!

discuss.

What those two said. I like Berzerk's sound and you pretty much said everything. Recovery's mixing was godawful. I'm sure Dre and Rubin both mixed the album together and Dre's probably like "alright man, that shit too loud Rubin nigga."

I also question how much is Rick Rubin actually involved in this! was he hands on when Em was recording in the studio? we all know Eminem doesn't record 15 tracks and says 'yup, that's it, that's the album' he does like double that.

Dr.Dre was WITH EMINEM when Eminem put out his latest great piece of work, Relapse.

Rick Rubin is more of the guy you call when everything is finished and he fucks up your shit and it comes out better, but in the past, Rick Rubin has been listed as an exec producer on projects he barely showed up for or done just a couple songs on...

He probably literally did what you just said, came in at the end to fix things and to produce a few tracks himself. I have a feeling Berzerk was made AFTER the album was pretty much finished.

I don't know man, I like Berzerk, it sounds like an Eminem track, but for me anyways! Eminem and Dr.Dre would of sufficed and calmed me down.

If you can clearly hear his vocals on recovery, which you can, then the mixing isn't bad.

loud beats =/= bad mixing

i think recovery was far better mixed than relapse. (must be the ganja)

tech and recording techniques have come up since mmlp. i think his yelling and what not just makes the mixing sound bad

Yeah I agree, it definitely sounds like an Eminem song. Most Eminem I've heard him in a while. I don't have a problem with Rubin on the album, it actually gave me more confidence in it. I trust the fuck outta Rubin, he was even in the Berzerk MV.

Rick Rubin appears to have been involved for some time. At least, that's the impression I've gotten from his interview about Kanye's album.

I said, “I have a record coming out in November that’s a lot further along than this.” He said, “Really? What are you doing for the next five days?” I said I was going to go away. Then he said, “Please help me. Would you be open to fixing it and shaping it and finishing it off?”

Loud beats doesn't equal bad mixing.....seriously??? People are literally saying the mixing was bad because the beats and music was loud, even though you could clearly hear Em the whole time.

The make or break on this album for me is his delivery, because if his delivery is how it's been on Richard/Throw It Up/Here Comes the Weekend on his recent features, than it's going to be a let down. That type of flow isn't album quality for Em. I really hope it's not like that.

The other make or break is the production. Enough with the Khalil, Alex Da Kid, and Boi-1da beats. Stick to Em himself, Dre, Rubin, and if you branch out keep it to guys that can fit your style. No ID is confirmed. Porter, Havoc, Supa Dups all make solid beats for Em. I would love if he got a beat from Premier, Alchemist, Remi, or even Araab Muzik on this album.

All those guys can make good shit for Em. Stop with the Just Blaze (I bet you he will have a beat or two on the album though), Khalil, Boi-1da, Alex Da Kid shit. The only Just Blaze track I was feeling was Cold Wind Blows, the only Khalil track that was good was Almost Famous, and the only Boi-1da beat I liked was Seduction.
