Yeah, you'd have to be pretty close to something to pole vault over it. Decent imagery.

But why would you want to go OVER the goalpost? I guess he's taking about hand-egg..

Beats me. Maybe because I'm thinking soccer, does any other sport have goal posts you just have to get behind?

I googled goalpost and the only thing other than Soccer goals that came up was American Football goals, which I didn't realize were called goalposts.

That would make sense, since I presume you'd just have get behind those to score, no matter how you get behind them.
Dunno squat about the sport though.

I'm used to the term "cross bar" (over the crossbar) when referring to football (hand-egg). Like, I would think the posts are the vertical bars
