Eminem expected to announce Australia tour

Postby babyjane » Sep 25th, '13, 14:24

Is he allergic to touring America or US venues don't want to pay his seven figure appearance fee?

Eminem is set to confirm a massive Australian and New Zealand tour in October, with an industry source confirming to theMusic.com.au that the February tour is all but ready to announce.

The 2014 tour will incorporate single shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane – who last hosted the rapper in 2001 – as well as Auckland. His last visit to Australia was 2011 and it will be his first time in New Zealand.

Sources at Auckland’s Western Springs Stadium have advised they are holding a date for a large scale event on Saturday 15 February, however this is not yet officially confirmed to be for an Eminem show.

Eminem currently has no tour dates officially confirmed, but tickets to the February dates will go on sale shortly after the October announce.

Set to coincide with his new album MMLP2, which will be released Tuesday 5 November and is a throwback to his most successful record – 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP, the source has also indicated that ‘big-name’ supports will join the shows.

Names being thrown around include Beyonce support Iggy Azealia, who is rumoured to have move Australian dates on the way, as well as would-be visitors T.I., J Cole and NeYo. Kendrick Lamar said he’d return after his first Australian shows last year, and is touring the US with Kanye West until December, but has no confirmed dates beyond that.

Australian audiences can expect a show similar to the one Eminem recently showcased at UK festivals.

At the Leeds Festival The Guardian reported that he united “the factions and pulls the biggest crowd for years… By the time My Name Is and a brutal Lose Yourself turn a muddy field into a hip-hop party, this festival might never be the same again.”

The Telegraph reported that, “A rejuvinated Eminem was a highlight of this year's otherwise predictable Reading Festival… The beefier sound underlined just how on top of his game Eminem is now that the addiction problems of the past are behind him. On stage his energy levels were high and his flow was crystal clear. The crowd, predictably, lapped it up.”

2010 - T In the Park, Scotland (I was there)
2011 - Tennents Vital, Northern Ireland
2011 - V Festival, 2 shows in England
2013 - Glasgow Bellahouston Park (I was there)
2013 - Reading and Leeds festivals, 2 shows in England

And I've been told that he's coming back to play Glastonbury as part of a European tour in June.

My mate has always been right when he's told me of Glastonbury headliners in the past and according to him Em is all but guaranteed to play, they're just trying to sort out other dates around that time. I was told that other concerts are likely to be Roskilde in Denmark, one show at the Amsterdam Arena and 2 stadium gigs in Germany.

Saw Em twice in NYC when I lived there, now I'm in LA and waiting for him to announce some damn US Dates!!! Good for those of you that live in those areas tho. He should do like 10-15 huge stadium shows in various parts of the U.S. in 2014. Especially if after this whole album dies down he plans to disappear again for a little while.

Although TBH (even though it'll never happen) I wish he would do some smaller scale shows, I think I lucked the FUCK out seeing him when he was at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC even if he only performed 3 songs.

Marshall evidently has a grudge with the USA and Canada. And Mexico for that matter. Has he ever been there?

Man looks like I'm gonna have to go to Melbourne for the first time. I live in Western Australia, missed his show in 2011, hoping Kendrick is a support, that would be dope. Kendrick was here last year I think, small show, wish I went. Em could sell a show here in Perth, I hate how big artists never come to the west.
