Maybe as a rapper, not as an artist.

Bullshit. YelaWolf is a better rapper, a better song writer too. The only thing Tyler has is that he produces and Yela doesn't. But he will.. Well, Creekwater was self produced.

But Yela is a better artist, rapper than Tyler. Just because Tyler has some cool vids don't make him an artist tbfh #factsonly

But that's not the only reason. He produces his own beats, produces for his record label and for other rappers. He has overall concepts and themes. If we call Kanye West a great artist then we should call Tyler a great artist. Tyler has a vision, and a storyline, to his music. Yelawolf doesn't. Yelawolf only raps. Not very artistic, sorry. I like Yelawolf a lot and want to see him succeed but Tyler is a far far better artist in my book.

Hustle.

I like both Tyler and Yela, Yela is just so hit and miss. At times you listen to him and think wow he could actually become great and then you realize why he is not great one track later.

Tyler is also hit and miss although his personality behind his music can turn a poor song into a decent song.

lol what? There are few rappers in the game that paint better images than Yelawolf. His attention to detail when it comes to depicting environments and how they relate to the overall structure of his track is one of his strengths. Even Yelawolf's delivery has a purpose. When you connect delivery to content, that's not artistic? wtf

I never said he wasn't artistic at all. I said that Tyler is MORE artistic and that's true. Anyone who doesn't have a bias toward any one of them can see that. Now, I've already said Yelawolf is a far better rapper than Tyler but I will not call him a better artist for it. Anyone who says Tyler isn't a good artist is a damn fool in my book.

that.

I love Tyler as a person though, and yela as well actually, but tyler just doesn't do it for me most of the time and yela is too inconsistent. i remember repeatedly skipping over his verse on life & times before finally getting frustrated at just how shit it was and editing it out. i was shocked when i actually looked and saw it was yw.

That's one of his weakest verse. Try listening to Trunk Muzik Returns, it was better than Life & Times.

StayWideAwake wrote:But you did indeed say Yelawolf doesn't have a vision and storyline to his music. Then said he isn't very artistic. That just isn't true. Yelawolf is known for his concept songs and storytelling. Complete opposite of what you said. I don't at all think Tyler isn't a good artist. They're both great artists. It doesn't just need to be one or the other. Personally, I love Yelawolf's storytelling, his flow creativity and his concept songs. Plus, *imo* Willpower is a better producer than Tyler. Like I said before, maybe it's just because I don't quite see the charm in his production or something and I'd be open to someone "selling" it to me, but as is I prefer Yelawolf's production. Albeit I recognize that there is something to be admired in a rapper's ability to produce his own music.

None of this implies Tyler isn't a great artist, but I'm not sure there are any grounds to say that Yela is any less of an artist. Yelawolf can be hit or miss, but it's usually because he's constantly trying different styles and concepts. Honestly they aren't even similar in any way so there's no need to decide who is better at what. They don't really operate in the same lane at all.

Yelawolf is a great storyteller, yes, but what I mean by vision is that there is actually a huge theme and a bigger picture to Tyler's music. Tyler's music has been all apart of an elaborate story he made up that also kind of reflects his personal life. That's what makes him more of an artist, to me at least. Preferring one over the other is opinion and preference, it's just I enjoy Tyler's music far more than Yela's. Quite frankly, you're the opposite which is okay lol. I can recognize Yelawolf's talent and skill and ability to have good concepts and stories but what I meant by vision is that there is so much more to Tyler's music than he puts on. I fully understand that the music isn't for everyone. Hell, I hated the fuck out of Goblin at first. But then I went back to it after a while and actually really dug it the second full listen. I can understand why people dislike his music. I only believe him to be a better artist...you disagree and many others in this thread disagree and that's fine.

I heard it as soon as it dropped since the original trunk muzik had sparked my interest. life and times kicks it in the teeth for me, but i'm a rittz stan as of recent so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
