How is Ed Sheeran viewed in America? Here in the UK his fanbase is pretty much One Direction and Justin Bieber fans.

I think he's more respected in the industry than One Direction and Bieber but yeah his fanbase is mostly 12-16 girls here too. I am a pretty big fan of his though, one of the most talented pop stars IMO.
