Like I said when the album was announced, it's either the greatest thing he's ever done or a carreer suicide.
He knows what he's doing, so the thing that makes me excited about this album is that he must feel as confident as he's ever been, or he wouldn't have set the bar so high for himself.

I just want a good album. That should be everyone expectation. Anyone expecting more than that is setting themselves up for disappointment.

Everything about Survival seemed forced. The wordplay is borderline cringe worthy. His flow sounded forced as hell. Like he wasnt having fun recording it and just did it because he knew about the CoD deal. He was putting emphasis on syllables on words for no reason (Screwdriv-ERS) (I'm not a a rapper. I'm a adapter I can adJUST). The beat does not match Em flow at all. There's some rappers/producers that doesn't sound good together. DJ Khalil and Em do not sound organic.

Just my opinion.

I like the random emphasis on syllables, it's classic Em in this day and age and sounds cool.

I can't agree with this forced comment. The CoD press release even said that he made like 5 or 6 versions of this song. He's a perfectionist, I don't think he would ever put stuff out he wasn't happy with or wasn't passionate about.

As for the beat, if it was produced by Rubin everybody would be raving about it. It's simple, it's just electric guitar and drums. Like Berzerk minus some of the electronic bits.

In the exact moment he dyed his hair blonde again and called it MMLP 2 he just prohibited me to have "normal" expectations.

Blonde hair was a bit stupid and makes me worry that the album name is more of a hype-builder than because it's a true sequel. Consistency is quite important and he's already said what the fuck is a 40 year old man doing dyeing his hair. Interesting to see how he would respond to a question about that.

I like his hair blonde but the fact that Em was quoted multiples times through 2009 and 2010 saying he'd never due his hair again due to his age means he's completely contradicted himself.

Yeah, that quote has him in a sticky situation haha. I'm sure Em can get away with it; just laugh it off or whatever. As far as only being a sequel in name, I think he's smarter than that. The original is a classic, and regarded by many to be his best work. I think things have lined up pretty well for him to create an album that can capture an essence of the tone the original had. I think Survival's placement on the album (or lack thereof) will be comforting to some that are curious about the sound of the album. And while comparing the two first singles of the MMLP' s would be criminal (hue), TRSS sounded, sonically, very little like the rest of the MMLP. However, the tone and style of the song fit perfectly, which is how I think Berzerk will end up fitting with the album.

Also, this is kind of off topic, but I really hate people that say this album being shitty would, in any way, discredit the original. That's so stupid haha.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. If he called it MMLP2 and didn't do any of the above, he could come out and say that MMLP was about Marshall Mathers in 2001 or whatever year he recorded it, while MMLP2 is now a reflection of him in 2013. However, the fact he's done all of the above and used the house for the front cover indicates it is going to be exactly the same type of theme. Two things are bad about this;

1. Berzerk doesn't fit the theme of MMLP (as we know it from the 1st album) - it's a good record though IMO.
2. The whole thing feels like some sort of Hollywood film franchise that has gone cold and is all of sudden making a sequel to gain nostalgia buzz. The annoying thing is that Em didn't have to do this. He could of just kept moving forward and left the past in the past.

I hope the album is dope and I'm certain any Stan will gain enjoyment from it (although may feel a bit let down). However, there is no way this album will create the buzz and critical reception that the prequel did and you can already imagine some of the shit haters will be writing and critics. If he goes at pop artisits, nobody will be shocked. If he says faggot, who cares. He did both things on Relapse including talking about rape and murder and the music industry just shrugged.

Just my thoughts :coffee:

I just listened to "The re-up". Eminem's flow definitely died after this record. Something changed. I think his voice suffered too much from the alcohol and drugs during this period of addiction.
