Note I said better song, not has better rappity rap verses I can quote and pick out inverses and multi syllabic rhymes from.
Em did that on Relapse and guess what, people hated it.
Seriously, if you can't see what Em and Rubin did with Berzerk, and hear the way the song feels like somebody with actual production know how went over the song with a fine tooth comb and actually produced that shit, as opposed to Recovery, then all I can say is; you'll prolly hate MMLP II, and I'll laugh at your disappointment. Also, you're an idiot.

Except for CWB, On Fire, WTP, Space Bound, Cinderella Man and Almost Famous.

Ugh @ this viewpoint though...

He's an artist not a fucking estate agent.

I HATE the way rappers like 50 and Jay talk about rap as a fucking profession or a job... then on the other hand (Jay now...) pointlessly namedrop artists like Picasso and compare themselves to popular historic artists they know the names of whilst declaring they do it for $$.

Who gives a shit about money... 'set for life'?...

Em doesn't rap to get rich. He raps because he loves rapping and is trying to make great art.

i get that.. i was just stating the fact he doesnt have to give us music ppl complain bout the shit he puts out. he couldve stopped long ago

It's perfectly normal that some people hate Recovery, the fact that we are Eminem fans doesn't mean that we have to like every single song he makes. Plus, every rapper was criticized even at their best - 2pac was, Nas was, and so was Eminem in 99-02 period. Eminem can handle some critique, don't worry about him (he even says it in the songs that he wants to be doubted and challenged, he wants to be hated). He owes us nothing, true, but what do we owe him? Should we force our ears to like everything that comes from his mouth? We can be grateful for his music without doing that. On top of that, most people that criticize Recovery still listen to it, their point is just that Recovery is one his weakest albums - which is my opinion too. It's still a great album, but it's far from perfect. At the end of the day, you either enjoy it for what it is or you don't. It's like football - your favorite team loses the game, but plays very well during the whole 90 minutes. You end up disappointed by the result, but proud of what the players showed on the pitch. Me when Recovery came out - disappointed by the fact it loses compared to his previous work and that it could've been so much better, proud of how good it is nevertheless. I'll probably enjoy MMLP2 no matter what, but I will state my opinion for what I hate about it, you can take it as complaining, being a bad fan or whatever...

I can't and am not speaking for individuals. But the sea change in opinion on this forum over the past 3 years has been massive and it can't just be that the people who absolutely hated Relapse or the people who loved Recovery have left the forum.

Relapse on release was at a push 60:40 positive reception on this forum and within 6 months every new verse in that style was treated by the majority with contempt. Recovery was more or less universally praised, except for those who disliked No Love (in spite of the fact that Ems verses is one of his best ever) and LTWYL purely because of who they featured.

Fast forward to now and Recovery is a by-word for shit and Relapse is some sort of Hip Hop Modern Masterpiece (which it is, :flutter: but never mind).

I think a lot of people rewrite the history of their own opinions to fit in with the current trend.

Well, once time passes and the hype dies down, you can really start to see things from a different perspective.

I know we're not supposed to love every song but my point is that there are total idiots on this forum who go off their tits about every little thing. There's people in the ADK thread who have said they will not buy the album if Alex Da Kid has production credits on this album. I think that's a ridiculous thing to say. And as far for the people who bitch and whine about everything, first it was that he didn't release the Berzerk video soon enough, then it was the lack of cover art and even then people have criticised the cover, then it was the Survival video and now it's the lack of track list and second single. I know I'm repeating myself but the fact we're getting another Eminem album is amazing in itself considering the guy could very easily have been in a coffin by now.

There's also some people who seem to think they're business gurus by complaining about Shady Records' promotion for the album. This seems to be because everyone is rabid for more info whereas Shady are drip feeding everything slowly. That to me is terrific promotion as the demand for more is insatiable.

Cheer up everyone, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be out in less than a month. Enjoy the build up and savour this time because we don't know what the future holds.
