I agree with you :y: I said that because I looked at a thread name 'it leaked' (Recovery) and the reactions were very different of the reception Recovery have today. It was funny/shameful to read those comments, you know? I just don't want people to judge MMLP2 in like, 10 minutes.

I was just thinking of this, no big deal

I don't know if this is a joke, but it'll not IMO. Basicaly because the scheme was inverse.

Relapse - bashed. now praised
Recovery - praised. now bashed

All of this came when people reasonably judged the two albums.

Now... a big part of this forum will bash the album by listening to the first 30 seconds of Bad Guy. They'll bash the album without listening to half of it, without thinking of what the fuck they're saying. People WANT to bash, nowadays. It's shameful.

This forum will be a weird place in 3 weeks.

No it won't.

Everyone will go insane when it drops calling it a classic. A year from now it'll get bashed, then in four years it'll be great again.

It's the same with every Em album other than Encore. The subsequent releases allow people to reassess the previous album in retrospect with a much fairer frame of mind.

Well maybe people should start off by properly evaluating the album instead of making knee-jerk reactions, and then just following the ebb and flow of opinions. It is possible to fairly and accurately judge an album without conveniently changing your mind at the same time everyone else does.

True.

I've criticised the collabs already and the inclusion of Survival however I'll judge the album based on its own merits. I actually have not changed my mind about any album. The opinion I've held after the first couple of listens is the same I've held ever since. Encore is still tired shite, a Relapse is conceptually amazing with brilliant production, lyricism but the accent was a bit overkill. Recovery I still feel is poorly produced but lyrically it's great and I love the emotion in it.

If the MMLP2 is below par then I certainly won't just go along with the inevitable "GOAT" and "classic" posts. Likewise I'll give it credit where it's due.

I don't think that'd be wrong to say, ever. MMLP was a masterpiece.

This. Relapse was good, but it wasn't great. The last great album was TES.

What I'm saying is that like Relapse, Recovery will be praised after the new stuff comes out.

you guys really don't know what a classic is.

bigray wrote:Nah, none of Ems last 3 are classics relapse though is very good if you appreciate the album for what it is.

:y:

an album isn't a classic because the artist's fans enjoy the album or because it went 2x platinum in a week.

Mbdtf is more on its way to become a classic than that 5x platinum recovery and both albums were released the same year.

Good point though. What DO we consider to be a classic? Cause the world "classic" gets tossed around too often in Hip Hop today.

If TES had Stimulate in place of Drips, it'd be his best IMO.

If it had that change, I'd at least reconsider my MMLP > TES ranking.

For an album to be called a classic, it has to accomplish some kind of change in the game. It has to attract a lot of attention and gain respect because of the impact it has.

If we're being honest, only 2 albums managed to have that kind of attention these last 3/4 years: mbdtf and gkmc.
Nothing is being compared to Recovery, Yeezus, MCHG, Life Is Good,

I fucking hate mbdtf, but mbdtf was the big thing in 2010
