Miley Cyrus tbh.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

Sigh, I don't hate these artists just their fans.

Define sell out? What do you mean by sell out? Doing stuff outside of Hip-Hop? Selling records doesn't make you rich anymore. You have to do more. Now let's see why you would call them sell outs.

Video Games

Eminem's Survival was basically a song Em made for Call of Duty. No question about it. So Em sold out because he did a song for Call of Duty? At the same time, Ice-T did a song for Gears of War 3 with his band Bodycount and voiced a character in the game. Did he sell out?

Jay-Z was a producer for NBA 2k13. At the same time, Xzibit worked for NFL Street 2. X had some of his songs and was a character and had his own team of handpicked NFL stars. If Jay sold out, does that mean X did too?

Snoop did the theme for NBA 2K11 or 2K12 as did Em with COD and Ice-T with Gears of War 3. Is Snoop a sell out?

TV Shows

If Snoop did a show, is he a sell out? Does that mean LL and Ice-T are sell outs because they are on shows? Ice Cube did his own family show, is he a sell out? But Kid Cudi has an HBO show, did he sell out? Em guested star on Entourage, did he sell out?

Method Man just announced his own show, did he sell out?

Ads

We see Lil Wayne on Mountain Dew ads. Does that mean he sold out? If so did Mac Miller? He's in Mountain Dew ads too.

But wait, both B.o.B and Kid Cudi do ads for Vitamin Water. 50 Cent does too. If Wayne sold out because he's on Mountain Dew ads, did B.o.B, 50, and Cudi sell out for Vitamin Water ads?

Didn't Eminem do an ad for the Super Bowl for some drink? Did he sell out? You guys would say no but that means neither did anyone I mentioned also.

We also see Eminem in Dre Beats ads. We see Nicki Minaj in some too. If Nicki is labeled as a sell out, why wouldn't Em be too? Hell Sir Mix A Lot did some Dre Beats ads. Did he sell out?

2 Chainz let Champs or Foot Locker use one of his songs for an ad. YelaWolf also let Champs or Foot Locker use one of his songs for an ad. If 2 Chaniz sold out, does that mean Yela did?

Movies

Jay-Z made a song for Great Gatsby. Ok so that means he sold out? Didn't Kid Cudi do the theme to Fright Night with the song Nobody Believes Me? Yes he did.

Vanilla Ice did a song for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fat Boys did one for a Nightmare On Elm Street film. Run-DMC did a Ghostbusters song for the film. Will Smith did a song for Men In Black. So did all of them sell out if Jay sold out?

Owning Sports Teams

We all know Jay owned the Nets so that means he sold out? But Usher is an owner for the Cleveland Cavs. Does that mean he sold out?

See fans logic makes no sense at all. If you hate on one for doing something, you have to hate on everyone who's done it and proclaim them as sell outs. Jay, Em, and Snoop aren't selling out but reaching out today's audience to sell. Record sales are down so in order to be big and sell you have to do more. Some do endorsements, some do concerts all year, so on and so forth.

I rather have kids listen to Jay, Em, and Snoop nowadays than that Miley crap.

Point is Jay, Em, and Snoop are older and more public them most of the names I mentioned. If Jay and Em did something that seems like they sold out, they get more hate because they're bigger but if X does the same thing fans wouldn't care. Em, Jay, and Snoop just grew up.

Thank you for wasting my time with this.

didnt read whole post but sellout is a person who sacrifices his art in order to make more money or get more fame (in this case sell more records). If you do an ad then you're not a sellout, you're just greedy.
Eminem did song for call of duty, ok no problem. Eminem puts that song on album, ok problem. Eminem does a music video which he ruins with call of duty gameplay, and makes the whole video revolve around call of duty: ghosts, selling out.
Of course if eminem did that because he thought it would be good for the music video then that just means that he sucks but i think he did it to appeal call of duty fanbois.
