Think of words rhyming like letters A & B. For example
I have a big yellow house A
I have a big fancy car B
I have a small furry mouse A
I keep it trapped in a jar B
For these bars it's ABAB
An "inverse" is a line with an ABBA rhyme scheme, like the one Menzo referred to.
