which album do you think is better ?


Illmatic was better in it’s era,but MMLP is actually better lyrically and production wise.

Which is only natural seeing as though lyricism advances as time goes on.(Amongst lyricists anyway)

Kind of an unfair comparison mainly because Nas's album is so old.


It's hard to find any production pre 1996 that doesn't sound dated as fuck.

Plus Eminem was like 26, Nas was 19. He wasn't even done mentally maturing and put out that masterpiece.


But you have to pick MMLP, but it's not fair to compare those two albums.

I don't even love Illmatic like I do some other Nas records. But I respect what it did for hip hop and for the talent it took a 19 year old to make a record at that point in hip hop history.

MMLP was made in the peak of rap.

i've tried on numerous occasions to listen to illmatic, but i just can't get into at all, don't know why.. but i love his gods son album.. mmlp is my all time fave album. never has an album made such an impact on me
