Yea, more of a conductor. Looking back now, although some of the beats he made were classics and full of soul, he was more of a hip-hop beatmaker rather than say a fully-fledged producer or composer who is able to make beautiful chord progressions. Now that he's looking to broaden his sound and take it outside the genre he kind of has to work with composers.

That :y:
It's something he had to do to make that transition, not that he couldn't go by himself

It's cool to see though. I mean, you would've never expected the guy who made College Dropout to make it this far and grow THAT much.

The point I was making though is that he hasn't really grown as a producer/composer because he's having to rely on others to evolve his sound for him. It would be great if he had evolved naturally and was making all the new stuff by himself, but he is relying heavily on others to accomplish it. This is why I agreed with Shuttle about him being more of a "conductor" than composer. He was/is a great hip-hop beatmaker but as a composer he's nowhere near the level of a Mozart or Elton John because he's relying on others to elevate his sound.

That's straight up bullshit. Em co-produced almost every song on his albums and he is heavily involved with the mixing too.
TrShady is just great. A place where pompousus blowhards can connect with other pompousus blowhards, and form a vast circle jerk of pomposity.

:y: :y: agreed. His personality his terrible. Arrogant twat

His personality is his personality, I got nothing against it.
I'm strictly talking about the music, it's shit.

But it makes for a whole new level of shit when he raps introspectively about how materialistic black people are as a culture, then in the next song goes on and brags about material shit. Like, not even ironically. He's a fucking grade A retard who happens to be a really good producer. Even then, he fell of production wise with Yeezus. That album had some of the most bland and boring beats I've ever heard from him.

For me. Personality plays a big part in me liking the artist or not. And i can't connect to his music coz of that obstruction. Plus your right, his music is cack anyways. Plus he's going out with an attention seeking celebrity. If em was doing that , people would use it against like they use pink and rhianna to say he's not hiphop anymore

I'm so looking forward to 'Desperation' !
I checked out Jamie N Commons on YouTube and this guy has such a cool voice . 'Devil in me' is a sick song and if Desperation has a similar vibe/feel to it .. :flutter:

No it's not you fucking idiot. You do know that a lot of rappers sit down with their producers and actually direct the music, right? That's why all Drake songs sound similar, that's why tracks Kanye hasn't produced still sound Kanye-ish, and that's why even the Recovery beats have a little bit of "Eminem" to them.

Drake has the beast 40 on his side
He's dedicated as hell and co-produced every song he didn't produce on NWTS, for instance
You're right, btw
