A rapper won't always use "strings" of multis like either that/squeeze the gat
it could be droppin him's an option, either that
or pop him when I squeeze the gat
You can see the alike sounds in the continuation part but some rappers will add additional ones before the main "structure" so to speak. You just have to try to pick out certain sets of syllables (usually start at the end of the line) and go on further down to see if those "sounds"/rhymes repeat. Once you find their main rhyme structure you can look further back in the lines to see if they tried to place smaller ones here and there before the main sets.
Just try to read through Menzo & Innovation's thread and get a feel for where to look and what to look for. Does that clear anything up?
Em is one of the masters of it. You just have to know what to look/listen for. Ideally they match up, but they don't have to to be good rhymes
StayWideAwake wrote:Well of course you would try not to bold the inner parts that don't rhyme. But you also have to consider the way it is pronounced because it might not always look right on paper but rappers can be very good at bending them to make it sound like a clean string of syllables. Big L was great at "clean" structured rhymes. You don't have to rhyme that way to be good, but it is one of the ways to do it. That seems to be the way Em prefers to rhyme.

so would this be a multi according to you
Fake thug, no love, you get the slug, CB4 Gusto
Your luck low, I didn't know til I was drunk though
'Drunk though" would probably go with gusto and luck low. That's a simple 'multi' by definition (multiple syllables) but that doesn't make it bad rhyming per se. But yes technically any set of multiple syllables that rhyme are 'multis'. I absolutely love that song though. Might be one of my favorite rap songs.
But thug/slug/love are not multis. That's monosyllabic rhyming. Just the 'luck low' part.
StayWideAwake wrote:ronnie56 wrote:well there was this was this multi was though thug no
i got it now just bold the stuff that rhyme and the multisyllable words with the rhyming syllables in it
Prostitute turned bitch, I got the gauge out
96 ways I made out, Montana way
The Good-F-E-L-L-A, verbal AK spray
Yeah you could look at it that way I just though the drunk though seemed to be what he was going for. There is room for interpretation of course.
actually there is also 4 gusto/your luck low
StayWideAwake wrote:ronnie56 wrote:yup there was thug no was though gusto , luck low
what about this one
is this a multi

Eh..it depends how you look at it. Because of the way they go back and forth you could say he is using two different "syllable" rhymes back and forth...but typically when people refer to a 'multi' it is when they are closely paired together. Depends though I guessMenzo wrote:The 90s is a difficult era to make a top 10 list, tbh. It's not called the Golden Era for nothing.
Very true.
StayWideAwake wrote:ronnie56 wrote:
but alot of people don't match their rhymes up in terms of syllable count that way
they do it the way u are teaching me to do it
and also ras kass technically is better then all these dudes lyrically speaking if u want to tell the truth.
I'm not trying to teach you a particular way. Look at the Big L ones. He matches his up very well. All I'm saying is that they don't have to perfectly match to be "good" rhymes. Ras Kass is nice...but he's not at all the best technical rapper.
This should really be in that other thread though tbh
Menzo wrote:InsaneTRex94 wrote:StayWideAwake wrote:Love Scarface and Black Thought. Not for the same reasons though
Yeah I've recently gotten into Scarface, I've been meaning to start listening to Black thought, and the Roots in general.
Too much fucking music out there
by the way, inb4classthrowsatempertantrumaboutthisthreadbecomingaboutmulties
Scarface is nice, it did take me some time to warm up to him though. Black Thought has always been great, as have the Roots.
StayWideAwake wrote:ronnie56 wrote:
so they don't have to match in syllable count they just have to rhyme be more then one syllable, not be the same word
and don't bold the filler parts that don't rhyme is that correct.
You are beginning to get very specific in classification. The ideal 'multi' does match in syllable count, isn't the same word haha and doesn't have non-rhyme fillers obviously. Any set of multiple syllables that match up could technically be considered a "multi-syllable" rhyme. I'll be O din/Om ni po tent
