I'm not a fan of the beat (not in this context anyway) and really not a fan of him putting rihanna on the chorus, she sounds lifeless and on autopilot. BUT...

damn, that third verse is filled with rhymes upon rhymes. same go's for the first. second I can't really hear because of the stupid voice changes and adlibs in the first half. but damn, I got some puzzling to do with those rhyme in the first and third verse.

2 ways of looking at this:

On MMLP 1 Em did everything he could to distance himself from the Pop Mainstream.

On MMLP 2 Em actively seeks out the mainstream with a generic 'I have inner demons that control me' for the 150th time on a generic acoustic / synth beat with a Popstar on the hook.

There isn't any argument left to say that he hasn't sold out. There isn't any argument against the fact that he clearly doesn't really understand what MMLP 1 represented.

On the other hand, he can still make fucking songs like Rap God and maybe we shouldn't take music so seriously. It IS a catchy song that will blow up on the radio / clubs. He is too big now to just cater to his core fans and lets cross our fingers that this is it as regards 'hitting the mainstream'.

All those confirmed female hooks though...
