Obie's future not looking good.

Postby Nick419 » Jul 23rd, '06, 21:49

One of the year's biggest rap albums (in my opinion) comes from Eminem's label mate Obie Trice. His last album came out in September 2003 and sold over 225,000 copies in the first week. To date, he has sold 900,000 copies in the U.S. and has gone platinium worldwide. The album will be released in France on Monday, over two weeks before the release in the U.S. Expect the album to leak this weekend. I highly doubt the album will sell anywhere near what his first album did, and that is a shame. This album is a lot better than his debut and over half of it was produced by none other than Eminem who also raps on the album. The album features 50 Cent, Nate Dogg, Akon, Trey Songz, Trick Trick, and of course Eminem. The albums first single "Snitch" with Akon was a flop for radio. The song just didn't get played, which comes to me as a suprise since "Soul Survivors" with Akon was a big hit. (The songs are similar in many ways.) The albums second single "Cry Now" hasn't gotten much of a buzz and has even lower radio plays than "Snitch". If I had to guess, I would say he would be lucky to get 100,000 copies in the first week, but a lot of people are anticpating this, so we will just have to see what happens, but don't let the poor sales of this album (or basically any album) let you think the album is no good. Hopefully the albums third single "Wanna Know" will bring more sales in for Mr. Trice. I would give this album 3/5. (Last album rating: 1/5)

yeah i thought that was strange cause cheers was great but what makes this article sort of true is the fact its leaked so people will download instead of buy and none of his singles are being played or at least not that much.

Obie was on CSI for fuck sakes if that doesn't get him good promotion i dont know what will EVERYONE and there fucking sisters watches csi so yeah i dunno what the prob is i dont see why his shit isn't played on the radio i dont think ive actually ever heard an obie song on the radio to date.

Obie deserves some fucking money lets all buy 12 of his albums.

What pisses me off is how 50 Cent did so much better with sales because of his "Shot 9 Times" hoopla well Obie TRICE HAS A BULLET IN HIS HEAD people these days are literally fucked up if it was me id throw more love to Obie just for surviving a shot into his skull then a stupid steriod popping titty fuck like 50 Cent with his shot 9 times and lived crap give me a break.

Not enough lesbians in his videos. And were them chains at?...

Nah seriously..

I think this new album is not as good as cheers was, coz cheers had had different kinds of tracks all sounding different more cheerfull beats, this album just happen at a very unfortunate time for O anf E.

its not only Obie that is strugling to promote himself its the whole indstry.
Its a wake up call for rap music... time to buy stuff for material not promotion.

hip hop is gone... vanished, good rappers are rapping for a very broad variety of people, people became too one sided in their tastes... thats all i can say.

the thing that confuses me the most is how "Snitch" didn't do well. It's so catchy. It even got a huge segment on CSI! how the fuck do dj's not spin it on the radio. and fuck mtv for not allowing it on their pussy-ass laguna beach network!

obie is one of the best rappers out right now and it seems like everything's against him.

its fucked up!

Eminem or maybe 50 Cent should have been on one of his 1st singles. music-wise it wouldn't be good, but he would get TONS of promotion.

oh well. u know what they say! "3rd time's a charm!"

na man obie needs to make it on his own thats not just what i think but thats what obie thinks aswell...he doesnt want his album over shadowed by Em and if em or 50 did a single with him people would buy his album for em n 50 but not for him....but anyways i agree with Asp on hip-hop dying

i hate to say it, but cheers sold because of em. it probably wouldn't have gone gold if it didn't get the promotion em provided.

as far as the dj's not playing obie's shit... i really don't know why. i don't know why obie didn't get on mtv. trl or sucker free or something. he wasn't on bet either. shady records knows how to sell records... why did obie get such shit promotion? WHY??????????????????
actually i've seen snitch on BET twice never on MTV tho...also about cheers being over shadowed by em did u notice Em was on that album in so many songs he's not even listed as a feat. on shit hits the fan with dre?>
