No way it's a classic, I just don't see that happening. I'm sorry. If the metacritic score is close to MMLP or TES, don't let that fool you.

To me he has three classics that are pretty much untouchable.

CLASSICS: MMLP, SSLP, TES.
VERY GOOD: MMLP2
GOOD: REL, REC
DECENT: ENC, INFINITE

A classic is perfection. The worst song on SSLP IMO is My Fault, which is still a 6/10 song. The album has classic cuts like Guilty Conscience, Brain Damage, If I Had, 97 Bonnie & Clyde, Role Model, JDGAF, Rock Bottom, BME, SDGAF.

The worst track on MMLP is Under the Influence, which given the dope rhymes is still a 7-7.5 song. Album has classic cuts like Kill You, Stan, Way I Am, Marshall Mathers, I'm Back, Kim, Criminal, etc.

The worst track on TES is Drips, which is still a 6-7 song given Ems killer verse IMO. Album has cuts like White America, Business, Cleaning Out my Closet, Square Dance, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, SFTM, Superman, WTMS, TIC, MDGC, etc.

The worst tracks on MMLP2 are Survival and The Monster, which are IMO a 5 and 2-3 type songs. You don't see as many lows as Encore (Big Weenie, Ass Like That, Just Lose It, My First Single were fucking horrendous), Relapse (We Made You was horrible and there were so many meh tracks IMO), Recovery (Won't Back Down, You're Never Over, Love the Way You Lie). But you still have potentially classic Em cuts like Bad Guy, Brainless, Legacy, Headlights, Evil Twin, and other really good or great cuts like Rhyme or Reason, So Much Better, Rap God, So Far, Love Game, Baby, Groundhog Day, Wicked Ways, Desperation, etc.

Album is a 4 on your list, and I give it a 4/5 or 8/10. Could move up to 8.5 if some of the meh tracks like Asshole or Stronger Than I Was grow on me over time, or if some of the good tracks become even greater.

Voted 4 but who knows what I will think in a couple of years. 4 years ago I thought Lil Jon was the best rapper alive.

I agree with this, if by classic you mean that it sounds like one. But otherwise, you are wrong. Relapse is not a classic in the real meaning of the word, what makes an album a classic is it being
1. close to perfection (Relapse and MMLP2 achieve that)
2. approved by the majority of listeners (Relapse fails here)
3. still relevant years after its release

By that logic Britany Spears - Baby one more time (29 million) is one of the best albums ever

And Nas - Stillmatic(2 million) is terrible bottom tier album.

A classic album should be all these three things I've stated, not just one. I really doubt Baby One More Time is anywhere near perfection, even for the pop genre, unless catchy and pointless is what is considered by pop fans perfection... And btw Stillmatic is approved by hip-hop fans, it has it all, it's a classic. It's a fact though that Relapse was (unfortunately) and still is hated by many. You are obviously using "classic" in the meaning of masterpiece. As I said, if that's the case I agree with you that Relapse and MMLP2 are classics. I just don't agree that classic(1,2,3)=masterpiece(1).

You only took one of those points, though.

I only needed one to disprove his theory of classic. Mainstream success/approval doesn't equal classic. It can't be part of a classic formula because it just isn't right.

Terrible rap music sells all the time for reasons other than it being a good rap album.

So no, mainstream approval doesn't have anything to do with being a classic. Especially in hip hop, a genre that has hit it's peak in popularity and isn't selling like it used to.

^I meant approved by the majority of hip-hop listeners, not mainstream approval. I should've been more clear.

Relapse is a classic horrorcore album.
No way is it a classic album overall that defines pop culture at the time, and catches the worlds attention in that period like MMLP or TES did.

I voted 4 and then seen how many people voted 5 and felt bad, it's quite hard for me to say it's a classic right now but it's pretty damn good!
But what am I gonna do when the rage is gone and the lights go out in that trailer park?

I voted 4. But it's only because I wanna replace some of the tracks for the bonus tracks. If I got to replace 4 tracks it would be a classic for me. But some tracks fucks up the albums flow alot.

I would change 2 things about the album

1. Survival. I like the song and I think it's great and all that but I kind of feel like it doesn't fit the album. But this one doesn't bother me that much.

2. The UHH sound in the last part of STIW. I hate that.

But there is not one song I skip like I do in TES (Drips) or in MMLP (Remember Me) so that gives it extra points. So I give it a 9-9.5

Yeah, his voice sounds amazing that last part of the song and he decided to have himself grunting in the background.

I just ignore it.

When Bi Polar Trilla is giving and fake ass hip hop head 1Lyng. aka Kanye's bottom bitch are giving the album 7-7.5, it was pretty good.

Guys like that usually give Em album 5-6.

It's a 4 right now. 8/10 IMO. Could potentially move up to 8.5 if some of the meh tracks like Asshole, Berzerk, and a decent one Stronger Than I Was become good or great cuts. Or if some of the other good tracks become truly great.

SSLP: 9/10
MMLP: 10/10
TES: 10/10
ENC: 6.5/10
REL: 7/10
REC: 7.5/10
HTS: 7.75/10
MMLP2: 8/10
