Nobody else did albums like that back then either... I mean that type.

I know, Dre was the "Gangsta rap pioneer", just saying that wont ever be albums like that anymore...maybe thats the reason "Detox" keeps getting delayed, maybe its not on the same level as the last two?! Who knows..

Well there were many gangsta rappers back in the day... & Dre & the rest of N.W.A. were the definition of that... speaking of it that is easily one of the 3 greatest groups of all time.

I was talking about the style & the beats Dre had in his solo albums which were the perfection of that G-Funk. Dre's second phase of his career at Death Row was unique just like his first with N.W.A. & like the third...Aftermath.

The Chronic's one of my favourite albums so yes.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Not really.

It's basically seeing who got in to Dre because of Eminem and who was in to Dre before Eminem. That is all.

It's not really meant to be if you give a shit about Dre if he's only associating himself with Eminem. It's meant more just to see who got in to him before and who got in to him after. That's all. No disrespect towards Dre, although he is losing it.

Getting into Eminem like that really turned me into a big hip-hop fan. Before, I listened to it casually.... and was mostly into rock/metal. I remember at some point after TES dropped and I got even more acquainted with the internet... I began discovering and downloading a lot of the older hip-hop records... and that's when I really got into all the classic west coast shit. N.W.A, Dre's solo shit, Cube's solo shit, Above the Law, D.O.C, 2pac, etc. etc.... good times.

sorta similar for me. i found em, fell in love with hiphop, then i found nas, jayz older stuff, NWA etc. although i kinda prefer newer hiphop, but not the shitty new stuff, more stuff like kendrick, hopsin, etc

Pretty much sums it up for me. I remember getting heavy into hip-hop in late 97 to early 98. My cousins hooked me up with their own mix cds that included a bunch of songs from popular rappers at the time. Dre and Snoop were on there.

Eminem started blowing up all over MTV the following year and they were hyping him up with the Dr. Dre co-sign and I remember being excited about that. Aside from Vol.2, 400 Degreez, and It's Dark and Hell Is Hot... the Slim Shady LP and 2001 were some of the first hip-hop albums I ever owned.

So to answer the OP's question, yes. Anything Dre has ever put his name on is damn near classic (including his solo albums).

Yeah exactly, I was one of the exact people he spoke about. I saw the My Name Is video on TRL and thought he was a new Vanilia Ice Gimmick and then my friend told me Dre signed him, and I kept watching it with my perspective doing a 180

Yes. I was listening to Xzibit before I listened to Eminem and who signed Xzibit and produced his album? Dre day.
