No way is MMLP2 better than SSLP. My Fault is the weakest songs and its still a 6. Berzerk, Monster, and Survival all worse.

IMO, MMLP2 is better than SSLP, only just, but still.
MMLP2's subject matter is more interesting, the album doesn't repeat itself, each song is unique and serves a purpose on MMLP2. SSLP on the other hand has some songs that just blend into one for me (Cum on Everybody, I'm Shady, As the World Turns, My Fault) These are all good songs, but they're similar, and forgettable. The lyrics, the wordplay, the rhymes, they're all great..... but they are on MMLP2 as well. I think a lot of people are just pushed towards placing SSLP over MMLP2 because it's nostalgic, it was from his "prime", and it was original. If I wasn't an Eminem fan, and heard these two albums back to back with no bias or prior listening, I think I'd go for MMLP2 as the better album.

Devils Night is the best album after his first three.

I actually kind of agree with this. I enjoy Devil's Knight just about as much as his first three albums. It's definitely a dope album.

Yeah man, Em's verses on DN are at the same level as MMLP and the hooks are one of the best Em has ever done - Fight Music, American Psycho, Revelation, Purple Pills, Devil's Night, Pistol Pistol, Shit Can Happen, Words Are Weapons. Not to mention D12 are great too.

Oh yes, Eminem fighting fat women in As The World Turns is such repetition of Eminem giving a girl shrooms at a party and her going insane and dying from drinking Lysol in My Fault. So repetitive. And those are such clones of random rhyme/funny line songs like Cum on Everybody and I'm Shady.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you never paid much attention to those songs at all and are talking completely out of your ass. Just a hunch.

Also, anyone who says MMLP2 is better than SSLP is basing it entirely on what they personally enjoy, rather than on any standards of quality whatsoever. There is absolutely no argument to be made that anything on MMLP2 is better quality-wise than anything on SSLP. Eminem properly aligns all of his phrasing on SSLP. He fails miserably at this for the vast majority of MMLP 2. On SSLP, his rhyme schemes are crisp and he aligns all of his rhyming syllables. On MMLP 2, he regularly settles for misaligned syllables in trying to craft multisyllabic schemes. The words Eminem rhymes on SSLP in his stories fit together so perfectly in terms of connection to the concept and fluidity in the chronology of the detail of the story or subject matter he's discussing that it seems as though it's just "meant to be." Spectacles and freckled nose. Storage booth and 4-inch screws. Orange juice. Chocolate milk, dropped and spilt. Nice to meet ya, slice of pizza. Percocet, nervous wreck. Fortune and fame/scorchin in flames. Havin a seizure, grabbin my t-shirt. Etc, etc, etc.

This is only occasionally the case on MMLP 2 during flashes of brilliance. Otherwise, he's forcing the rhyme schemes, splitting clauses at the snare.

SSLP is without the shitty punchlines. They're still littered throughout MMLP 2.

The folks who prefer MMLP 2 to SSLP suffer from "louder = better syndrome." They prefer the catchy 60s samples and/or hooks and more saturated, mainstream sound and Eminem using a deeper voice and shouting regularly.

weakest song on MMLP2 are better than the weakest song on SSLP imo. On the other hand, good song on SSLP are classics while even though they're fantastic on MMLP2, it's not the same league.

So yeah, it's hard to tell.

Really good article with very great descriptions of certain pieces. Although I disagree with their rankings a little (Encore above both Recovery and Relapse is wack.) I agree with their top 4 order.

Problem is crazies on here.bb either say MMLP2 IS FUCKING PERFECT, BETTER THAN SSLP.........or.......MMLP2 IS WHACK, HES FORCING EVERYTHING, UGH ITS BAD

When in reality.....its very good, he delivered on 18/21 tracks, and theres an assurance in his delivery that hasnt been there since TES. Only thing negative are the 2 weak songs and the iffy Berzerk, there are some bad lines here and there, and choppy flow bugs a tad here and there.

But overall its his best since 02 and a solid 8/10 very good right bow.
