It also sounds like he's giving a speech to a crowd on an oldfashioned mic, like the kind MLK used. Which makes sense when you think about it. Speeches from greats always start off a little slow paced, then pick up with energy towards the end once the speaker realizes they have the whole crowd on their side, and supporting them.

Yeah i noticed that too about legacy.. I like how he started every verse with the sky is fallin.. nice touch,

it's obvious that he filtered his vocals with an EQualiser by cutting the low end and the high end of the frequency spectrum and boosting the mids with a relatively narrow band.

and the reason for it also seems very obvious. the first verse was all about before he started rapping, hence the old tape recorder sound. second verse was him slowly beginning to write and rap but still the tape recorder sound because that would have been the quality for him back then. and with the third verse he has come full circle and now is a full fledged rapper high above anyone who bullied him or doubted him and he needs to be heard crisp and CLEAR!!!

this song gives me the shivers and only then do I know that it's a masterpiece/classic.
