Trinidad James disrespecting NY, In NY. Rappers respond

Postby Rattle1 » Nov 15th, '13, 04:39

Trinidad stripped his happy-go-lucky persona and launched into a full-on rant against his haters, the fickle hip-hop industry and most surprising, the state of NY hip-hop. "I remember when New York rap was the sh-- and us 'bamas,' us from the South was like, 'What the f---?' And we just did our own thing, but now we run y'all musically. That's crazy," he said, touting the South’s strong arm on hip-hop.

Using the Rubber Tracks stage as a bully pulpit, Trinidad praised Kendrick Lamar, who dubbed himself the “King of NY” earlier this year in Big Sean’s “Control.” He continued, "I'm not trying to start nothin', but if you wanna do somethin' we can do somethin', I don't give a f---. I'm just being honest with you.” In the Atlanta native’s opinion, everyone from the Big Apple might as well be from the A. "Now, every n---a that's really poppin' out of New York, he might as well tell you he from Atlanta."

The crowd, which included notables Mississippi rapper Big K.R.I.T, Shade 45’s DJ Wonder and Brooklyn producer Harry Fraud, was perplexed by James’ seemingly sudden onslaught. So much for turning up. Fan boy phone cameras rolled, as many gleefully filmed the entire thing to share with their friends and social media later. The outspoken rapper didn’t care, acknowledging that his words would be all over the blogs by morning.

Trinidad has since continued his onslaught on social media. Now, he’s naming names of NYC rappers who don’t get support from their hometown like Action Bronson and Troy Ave. One NYC native who has apparently taken offense is Maino, whom Trinidad says is now out to get him. “Maino wanna shoot me for saying the truth then shoot on. I ain't backtracking s--t. Ny consumers are a disgrace to their own culture,” Trinidad said on Instagram.

Still, he isn’t backing down. Trinidad continued, “I don't ever have to make it on the radio ever. F--k the radio. I'll die a real n---a. I speak the truth....and the TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE…You gonna wanna hear this. Ima die with a Trini Flag in the Air... "WHEN I DIE BURY ME IN A CARNIVAL"!!!”
