Over on the Digital Songs chart, Eminem's "The Monster," featuring Rihanna, returns to No. 1 with 243,000 downloads sold (up 62% after last week's sum was deflated due to iTunes' Complete My Album returns.). Last week's leader, A Great Big World's "Say Something," featuring Christina Aguilera, falls to No. 12 with 76,000 (down 60%).
OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" hits a new high in both sales and chart position, as it climbs 3-2 with 163,000 (up 7%). Lorde's "Royals" slips 2-3 with 158,000 (down 15%), and Pitbull's "Timber," featuring Ke$ha, jumps 8-4 with 144,000 (up 20%).
Imagine Dragons' "Demons" drives to a new peak, rising 10-5 with 129,000 (up 17%), Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" is steady at No. 6 with 119,000 (down 6%), and Perry's "Roar" falls 5-7 with 117,000 (down 14%).
Passenger's "Let Her Go" rises 9-8 with 113,000 (down 4%) while "The Voice" contestant Matthew Schuler debuts at No. 9 with his cover of "Hallelujah" (106,000). Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" closes out the top 10, dropping 7-10 with 105,000 (down 13%).
Digital track sales this past week totaled 19.9 million downloads, down 4% compared with last week (20.6 million) and down 10% stacked next to the comparable week of 2012 (22 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 1.1 billion, down 4% compared with the same total at this point last year (1.2
billion).
