Oh, the contrast with Eminem is so striking. "he would never call a record of his classic or whatever." "i understand what it did..." humble

Jay Z.... 4 classics

Kanye "MBDTF is the greatest rap album of all time, or top 10 or whatever" lol

No wonder nigga skirts fame while others embrace it

Wait, are those Jay's comments too?

Also - he ranks Magna Carta FIFTH and yet that his latest...

I understand things take time to settle in even for the artists that make them, but if you believe what you've just made is nowhere near your best... why put it out. That's so unambitious.

Even if it's not as good, you at least should think it's close, or what's the point.

there's a difference between an artist with 12 solo albums (4 classics, two below average, rest above-average to very great) who's been there for almost 20 years now standing up to his older material, and someone who's released what is considered three classic albums, one average and two doo doo albums standing up to his old shit

sixth (fifth lol) album in such a great/consistent discography is certainly acceptable, if eminem said he thinks mmlp2 is his best album it'll be 1)laughed at 2)because of his newly developed "maturity"

not everyone is a kanye west when it comes to releasing albums

Are you on about Em with the 3 classics?

I dunno which two (presumably Relapse and Recovery?) you mean are doo doo.

I would say he's released 3 classics (2 universally recognized, 1 fan-anointed:TES), 1 bad/doo doo(Encore), 1 great (Relapse), 1 good (Recovery) and 1 great (MMLP2).

I'm not sure if I agree with vol 2. Being a classic, it is debatable (Nigga What Nigga Who is a GOAT track) but the top 3 are all classics with Reasonable Doubt is one of the best hip hop albums ever. But Magna Carta is way to fuckin high only a couple of good tracks on that shit.

It controls my pen, that ain't me, it's my evil twin
(I step out and see my evil twin, he gives me an evil grin)
He's just a friend who pops up now and again
So don't blame me, blame him, my evil twin

I agree. American Gangster is 4th, right after his classics.
