Help on beat-making please

So i need some help. I'm messing around making beats, but i always seem end up making them feel really sad/ depressing. the beats are alright, i like them, but im having issues trying to make other beats that are more... upbeat... (pun intended)... do you guys have any ideas/ tips?

It's not necessarily about the sounds you use. You can make uptempo beats with almost any instrument. It's all about the composition.

My recommendation is that you listen to uptempo songs you like and what you would like to learn to do yourself. Play them and try to come up with a similar or exactly the same melody and chords. That way you can hear what they have done and use that on your own beats with some variations. You learn a lot by trying to re-create a song.
