Honestly, I don't think our layout is that bad compared to some of the other phpBB layouts. It's a lot worse than some vBulliten ones, but phpBB layouts seem to be pretty awful in general.

How much of a hassle is it to migrate from phpBB to vBulliten? I remember when one of the other forums I am on migrated software, they had a tonne of issues.

That's exactly my issue. Anything would be better than this imo. Keep this one as a option for people that still want to use it.. just add another one, too.

It depends. If TRshady is working on a server from Trshady(admin) it might be a lot to do. I don't exactly know if the hosting where the servers are, will make a problem or not but I doubt it. The hardest part about vbulletin is to get the license, since it costs a few bucks lol.

And there's also the vbulletin service that sets your forum up for 50 dollars I think

I'll return to the topic of layout once the technical improvements are complete. These are still ongoing, will continue in the morning - please note that things are likely to be unstable at the moment till the work is complete. Expect slowness and the odd timeout at the very moment.

It's average tbh. Wouldn't fit. It's not only the layout that sucks 90% with php, you don't have much options either. Vbulletin is superior in every way. But like TR said, lets fix the server first.

Well, it wasn't quite the plan to replace the theme - but as part of the upgrade work, it would have taken to long to update a theme created years ago. So here are with this - for the very moment at least. Here's some quick notes:

- I've temporarily disabled signatures. Not only to they negatively effect response times, but many, many members have large signatures, which make a complete mess of threads - particularly on a dark theme. This will most likely be the case till next weekend - the focus of this humble abode we've built for ourselves should be on the words, the discussion, when 90% of the scrolling through a thread is getting through the poster signs signatures that disobedient members bestow upon us - it becomes a problem.

- This new dark theme is not permanent. I will be making changes to improve the usability (such as having widened the theme and increased the font size from its default), but it'll most likely be replaced with a light theme. Sadly there's a sorry selection of themes available - but if it means we get one commissioned for us, then so be it.

- The optimisation work to speed up matters around these here parts is not yet complete, but I'll be plugging away at things for a while yet.

- Oh, and emoticons look like crap at the very moment, this will be corrected where possible.
