It's obvious what them dudes did as indie artists is phenomenal & outta reach... Jadakiss just said that in his own words too.

Mack is here to stay for sure... esp. now since money isn't gonna be a thing for him while recording his next album.

The Heist was great, and it transcended genres....

But the smart thing for Mack to do right now would be to SHIT on everybody doubting him, and since he's indie... he can do whatever the fuck he wants. Just riding off the buzz from the Heist, his next album is guaranteed to sell more.

Perhaps all this unnecessary and harsh hatred will fuel something greater than the Heist... at least I'm hoping it does.

I have this feeling that his sophomore is going to be hard as fuck. He's got the success now, he and ryan lewis are each worth 10 million now and that's after giving HUGE cuts to Jon Jon (video guy/best friend) and their manager. They can do whatever the fuck they want now, they have shattered the ceiling of the music industry.

one of the edgiest comments ever

That shit is platinum so If the heist isn't discussed as a great album of the 2010s by now then it never will be... hate it or love it but the heist is only discussed for its singles and thats why many people or magazines think it doesn't deserve its nomination in the albums categories.

Personally, I wouldn't even put it in a top 50 albums of the last 3 years and I have nothing against Mac

Except the MBDTF part, Aone is pretty much spot on. People are scared to admit they like Macklemore. They call him corny. They say he's too pop..

I'm just saying.. You can hear the Kanye influence in Ryan's production. Listen to Can't Hold Us, and tell me it doesn't sound like something Kanye would rap over. Same with Make The Money..

this generation is full of people who are scared to admit they dislike an artist... except when the artists are beefing Image

Oh no, it's normal that some people don't like him but I find it funny how most of the guys who hate on him have only heard his two/three singles and decided to write him off because his singles blew up really fast and got him known worldwide.

I can understand why you wouldn't like him and I don't consider him as one of the best either, I thought The Heist was a very solid effort but the amount of hate he gets man.. On forums such as KTT (probably Boxden/The Coli too) you'll get laughed at if you say he's a good rapper or if you say he makes good songs.

I mean what the fuck is SOOO awful about his music?

An artist will always get hated on unless he has a core fanbase to counter-balance the hate imo.

It seems to me that Macklemore is missing that... at least in hip hop.
momentsgolden wrote:People of a genre are loyal. Rock fans like their arcade fire, R&B likes its Adele, Alternative likes its Nine Inch Nails. The problem with people like Macklemore is that they are so pop, hip-hop does not consider them one of their own. When they stop being "new, different, fresh, hot" they will be discarded like the Akons, Ludacris and T-pains.

I'm an edgy kind of person... u no?

But in all seriousness, the lyricism on the Heist shits on MBDTF... and the production is up to par in quality and just as grand as that of MBDTF.

lol... the beats are on point, the composition is crazy, the production on MBDTF is on a whole other plain from any other hip hop record before or since. MBDTF proved that kanye could fuck with Dr Dre as an artist (producer).

and I thought the lyrics on mbdtf were way better tbh

When the heist came out, people were saying that the beats sounded like generic kanye leftovers

I don't know what he is but it's pretty clear that he doesn't have a solid core fanbase (in hip hop)
