Holy shit, I just relistened to Difficult. I kinda get what you guys are saying about it being disturbing and what not. Eminem has a lot of songs that have a lot of raw emotion in them but this song is different. Most of Eminem's raw emotion songs often usually in the end are uplifting and motivational even though you sort of feel his pain, you feel like Eminem became stronger afterwards and he's better off getting the emotion off of his chest but Difficult is different. Em seems like he's in such a dark place and there's like no hope of him getting better. I don't know that's just the vibe I get after listening to it. It's pretty depressing actually. One of the very few Eminem songs where despite all of his emotion in it, you just feel depressed afterwards and not happy or motivated at all. It's really weird tbh.

I'm not sure...

He probably wouldn't have gone quite as deep in to the drugs but he still had a problem well before Proof got shot, that worsened it but I still think he would have had an overdose and went through similar times.

I just think that perhaps Relapse wouldn't be as it was as he wouldn't have sunk to SUCH a dark place where he felt the need to go so demented conceptually, but I'm not sure things would be that much different, although Proof would have told Em what he thought about his work and Proof's input was always of major value to Em... so maybe Em wouldn't have done some of the BS shit like ditching material, switching lanes etc.
