What do you think of him?

Singin' "Bagpipes from Baghdad" again
In my dad's drag draggin' a faggot in a Glad bag
Won't be the last time I make a dramatic entrance like that again
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
Forgive me father, for I have sinned
But hip hop has left me brainwashed with a violent streak

Macklemore and Hopsin are too different though. Mack's got that spiritual lyrical miracle shit, hop has that hard core battle rap technical multi shit. Plus Ryan's production > Hop's production any day

Been listening and he's OK at best tbh. But dont compare anyone to Macklemore, Maclemore isnt rap.

You have a terrible and/or generic taste, I don't think you should be identifying who is and isn't rap.

Did "OK at best" and "good" become synonyms while I was gone

I don't even like Macklemore but from the little I've heard from his discography (The Heist, namely) he's easily eons ahead of Hopsin, whose entire discography and rarer features I've listened to, bar Knock Madness aside from skims.

But to be fair, this thread is about Hopsin and not Hopsin vs. Macklemore. I feel the same TRex does in regards to Hopsin, but I'm probably more crucial about it.

Yeah, I'm nowhere near a Macklemore fan but I'd rather listen to The Heist than anything Hopsin released post-Raw, and even parts of Raw as well. But that's me, because Raw was my world when it came out.

That explains a lot.

I love you too.

On topic though, Hopsin isn't a bad rapper. He's just seems to be stuck with the same style he's been using since 2010. Every verse is about how awesome he is, how the industry rappers are all wack, and, if he's feeling particularly insightful, how bad drugs are (without doing any prior research).

How did you know that I'm Canadian :confusion:

I enjoy him and appreciate his dedication to his music and fans. He's a genuine person who works for and deserves everything he has. That said, his musical appeal has died out on me over the last 2 years or so, I remember when Raw dropped it was a breath of fresh air, and I specifically remember thinking "wow, this guy's gonna evolve into something monstrous", but after all the hype around Knock Madness, I was quite disappointed when it finally came out. I expected much more evolution from him, which isn't to say I don't enjoy some of the tracks, it's just that my expectations were much much higher, and frankly I like to believe that he is capable of a lot more than what we got.

So I mean I'll pick up whatever he drops in the future, but no more getting my hopes up. =/

edit: also I find that I disagree with most of his stances/views on things. and a part of me wants to believe he's just bad at thinking everything through before it comes out of his mouth, because he comes off as too intelligent to really believe it. but it still takes a huge chunk out of the artistic integrity within his work either way.
