Also, in the Stan video Stan puts a picture of Eminem over a picture of his girlfriend. Anyway yeah, I think Matthew was gay. Btw, someone made a gay parody of Stan a while ago but idk what it's called or where I downloaded it. It was hilarious though.

@Charlotte it is sorta important, it gives depth to Matthew as a character for one, and it serves as a sign of Em's awareness that his in-character homophobia and misogyny have consequences.
It also serves as a bit of a turning point, as I didn't hear "faggot" being used as a derogatory term for guys who like dick except on Brainless, which more teasing than malicious and his misogyny on the album comes off as cartoony and OTT rather than vicious.
All in all, it might represent the end of homophobia/misogyny for Em except, of course, where its deliberately exaggerated for effect and thus can't be taken as Em's opinion IRL.

Maybe I'm missing something...where are you guys getting the idea that Matthew is gay? Stan is obvious, but I don't remember hearing anything like that on Bad Guy.

"Now who's a faggot you punk?"

"This is for him and Frank Ocean, oh
Hope you can swim good
Now say you hate homos again!"

It almost feels like it goes deeper than just revenge for Stan, like it's his main motive but it feels like Matthew is taking the gay-bashing lyrics personally.

yep this pretty much. I thought this immediately after my first couple of listens of the song, as if Eminem put it in there so that we intentionally notice it and it is meant to expand the character

I took it as Matthew was angry on behalf of Stan. I mean, Em insulting gays = Em insulting Stan. Matthew was angry because A) Em caused Stan to kill himself, and B) Em bullied him, called him names, disrespected him, etc etc. in the eyes of Stan and Matthew.

It's also funny that Frank Ocean has a song called Swim Good

Plus the obvious reference to ocean/swimming and the fact he's driving over the bridge...fuck, this song has such amazing detail. A lot of MMLP2.

I don't think Stan's bi or Mathew is gay. I think eminem did this to show his obsession as a fan. If it was about a normal fan it would have been no good. Also I've seen plenty of male members on here with tons of posters in the eminem show off thread. Matthew is just saying the homos again and stuff to show how he hates em for EVERYONE he has "hurt" or "bashed" like he did Stan. You guys take things stupidly.

Also eminem has said mainly when he says fag he means like pussy or bitch.

The fact that Matthew says "Now who's a faggot you punk?" and the Frank Ocean homo line BOTH lead me to believe that it is personal and that he is gay, even if them separately wouldn't. (which they do also imo just the context they are said in really leads me to believe it)

"We should be together, too".."My girlfriend's jealous 'cause I talk about you 24/7".."That kinda shit will make me not want us to meet each other". Plus putting Em's picture OVER the picture of his girlfriend in the music video.

I don't see how he could NOT be gay.

He would have been a normal obsessed fan if Em hadn't put those lines and details in! He very clearly intended us to think that Stan was gay.

All of that shit is because he's deranged and obsessed, not because he's gay. His obsession was to the point of double-murder suicide, is everyone forgetting that? It shouldn't be surprising if he talks a lot about his idol or replaces his picture of his wife with Eminem. Clearly he's more in love with the idea of Eminem than his wife, that doesn't mean he wants to have sex with Eminem.

All of those things were characteristic of the obsessed; not the homosexual. Just because Gary is gay doesn't mean he's going to tat another man on his body. Because Gary idolizes, or rather obsesses over, another man, then he might tat him. I'm not personally interested in getting tattoos of girls I wanna fuck either.
